The Trinity
In the following passages and comments I will demonstrate that there is a multiplicity or plurality of God through the pages of scripture. Also we are told that there is only ONE God, so we must believe that there is ONE God. There is also an interaction or conversation between the God-head. We will look at these as well.

We cannot stress the divinity of Jesus and remove him from his humanity. There are those who divest Jesus from his humanity and then build arguments based on the faulty initial premise.
In all this we must begin with Faith in the word of God.

It is through faith we can then build on our understanding and knowledge of God.

Philippians 2:5-11
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature (or form) God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature[2] of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Catholic Encyclopedia states: the Formulation "one god in three" was not established until the 4th century.
That may be so but the Catholic church was not in existence throughout the biblical time but rather was formed and developed after the times of Jesus and indeed came about as a split from the orthodox church.
The bible itself has stated the triune nature of God all along.
The trinity is an essential understanding of the Christian Faith.

The Father is God
The least challenge is "God the Father".
Jesus calls on the Father and tells us that he is our father.

Matthew 6:9
This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Psalm 89: 24-29
My faithful love will be with him, and through my name his horn [4] will be exalted. I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers. He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.' I will also appoint him my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth. I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail. I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
We have one God who represents himself in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This is not the result of a decision of man but by the revelation of God through his Word. The word tells of the One true God who shows himself in Three interchangeable yet unique persons. On the First page in the First Chapter of the First Book of the Bible, God is represented as plurality. His name here is Elohiym, a word of plurality and used as the supreme God.

Genesis 1:1-2
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Then to insure we know that Jesus is involved, John removes any doubt.

John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with god, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.)
In John 1:1 Jesus is referred to here as "The Word" or Logos. Greeks used this term not only of the spoken word but also of the unspoken word, the word still in the mind--the reason or thinking process. When they applied it to the universe, they meant the rational principle that governs all things. Jews, on the other hand, used it as a way of referring to God. Thus John used a term that was meaningful to both Jews and Gentiles. The "the Word was with God" tells that Jesus was distinct from the Father. And "was God", Jesus is God in the fullest sense. "NIV text Note". To render this as "was a God" would make a declaration of polytheism. Polytheism cannot be the rendering of this passage as the the entire Word of God clearly states (there is ONE God).

Ephesians 4:5-6
one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
The Shema or Hear
Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
)LORD = Yehovah and God = elohiym The self Existent or Eternal supreme God.

Now to focus on the Christ Child, Isaih 9:6 clearly states the this trinity. And indeed is the best scripture of the trinity.
Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his sholders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty god, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
"God is with us"

Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

And that is Jesus
John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,[4] who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Joel 2:27
And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: ...32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
This was partially fulfilled in Acts 2 and will be fully resized when Jesus comes again.
"call on the name of the Lord".

Acts 4:10-12
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Hebrews 1:1-3
In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Hebrews 1:6
And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."
Now there are those who have power over this world but he is a little "g" god. Satan rules but he is not God.
2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
There are many references to the three in one God. Here are some.
Mt 3:16-17
As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."
Jn 14:15-17
If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever -- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Galatians 4:4-7
but when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

(Abba is expressive of an especially close relationship to God. Daddy)

The Spirit
1Corinthians 12:4-7
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 13:14
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
1Th 2:13
But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved throught the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
1Pe 1:2
To God's elect.. who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood.
Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Psalms 18:31
For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?
1 Corinthians 10:3-4
They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual dring; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
Spirit: (Define)
  • pneuma(4152): breath, blast or breeze. (Figurative, a spirit) When related to humans it is the rational soul, vital principal or mental disposition. When referring to the Divine, God, Christ's Spirit, The Holy Spirit, ghost, life, spirit, mind.
  • pneumalikos(4151): non-carnal, ethereal or the regions beyond the earth, that is celestial or heavenly.
  • prophesy (4395) propheteuo: foretell events, divine, speak under inspiration, exercise the prophetic office A communication of the mind of God imparted to a believer by the Holy Spirit. It may be a prediction or an indication of the will of God in a given situation.
1 Corinthians 12:1
Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pegans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 2:3-4
This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
Philippians 2:13
for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
Isaiah 44:6
Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Lets break this down a Bit: One King. Zechariah 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
This is repeated in its fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
Matthew 21:4
All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
Jesus could see where he was not in body. John 1:49
Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God: you are the King of Israel.
You don't even have to speak to him. Matthew 12:25
And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
Matthew 21:9
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
Hosana is a Hebrew expression meaning "Save!" which became an exclamation of praise. This attests that Jesus was seen as their Savior who would redeem them. And as son of David they saw him as King.

What was the crime of Jesus that required crucifixion.
Matthew 27:37
Above his head they placed the written charge against him: This is Jesus, The King of the Jews.
Psalm 5:2
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
Redeemer. Isaiah 43:1
But now, this is what the Lord says -- he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Isreal: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Hosea 13:4
Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
Hosea 13:14
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction:
Galatians 3:13
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Isaiah 43:10-11
You are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.
Oh my look at this... (and my servant whom I have chosen.... I am he) that is clear. Especially with:
Titus 2:13-14
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
God the Father will not appear, we cannot look upon him and live. This is ONE person coming to the Mount of Olives.
Jesus can not be just a man.
Psalms 49:7
None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
Psalms 49:15
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me.
Psalms 130:7-8
Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
The Father is Spirit yet we read:
Job 19:25
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Luke 1:68
Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he as come and has redeemed his people.
Ephesians 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.
Colossians 1:14-20
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say , whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
The Firstborn (prototokos) is not of a created nature but is of first place or preeminence. He is the head of everything.
I Peter 1:18-19
Forasmuch as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
Luke 21:27-28
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Christ lived an indestructible life as the lamb without spot the "more perfect tabernacle". But a man can not do that:
Romans 3:23-24
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Hebrews 9:11-15
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us . For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
There is only one God. So any translation of John 1:1 that takes away from that fact contradicts this passage.
I Chronicles 17:20
O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
First and Last. Alpha and Omega are the First and Last letters in the Greek alphabet.
Revelation:1:8
I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
Revelation: 22:13
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
God in Trinity, the "us" in this passage, puts forth this challenge.
Isaiah 41:21-22
"Present your case", says the Lord. "Set forth your arguments," says Jocob's King. Bring in your idols to tell us what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come.
There are those who say that the angels are the us. But, as God is the Judge, he does not need advice or councel from anyone else.
So there you have some more information about the Trinity.
We have seen God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in the passages given.
Now there is an issue of Authority. Did Jesus have the Authority of God.
Mark 2:5
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."
Mark 2:7
Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, "Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, take your mat and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..."
The reaction of Mark 2:7 was a good one. Indeed, no one can forgive sins but God alone.
Malachi 2:10
Have we not all one Father? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our fathers by breaking faith with one another?
This is like Isaiah 43:1, listed previously, and Deuteronomy 6:4 we agree that there is one God. He is plural as the text denotes. This passage points out "breaking faith" in the covenant with God and in marrying the daughter of a foreign god. This was that they looked for wives outside the Jewish nation to the surrounding peoples who were deep in idol worship. This is a violation of God's law. The result is that, as with Solomon, you will listen to your wife. Ask Adam to listen to Eve for spiritual guidance. You will follow your wives beliefs and be lead into apostasy. God saw it before so he warned us about it:

Exodus 34:15-16
Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices. And when you choose some of their daughters as wives for your sons and those daughters prostitute themselves to their gods, they will lead your sons to do the same.
The reference to one God is pointing to the God that has always been there. This is reinforced by:
Malachi 3:6
"I the Lord do not change".
But going a little further God talks about another breaking of Faith, that of Divorce. What is marriage but a relationship. The earthly version of our relationship with our Father in heaven.

Malachi 2:15
"Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit, they are his? And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit.
The marriage theme is expanded and is complemented by many references of Christ.
Isaiah 54:5
For your Maker is your husband -- the Lord Almighty is his name -- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.
Isaiah 62:5
As a young man marries a maiden, so will you sons marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.
More on the metaphor of marriage.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image in our likeness.
Note again that there is a plurality in the usage of "us and our".
Genesis 2:22
Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man and he brought her to the man. The man said "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
Jesus adds in his conversation with the Pharisees, and Paul in his letters that this is both a physical and spiritual union.
Matthew 19:6
So they are no longer two, but one.
1 Corinthians 6:16-17
Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh" But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
Now we come to relationship between Christ and the Church.
Ephesians 5:28-32
'In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church -- for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery -- but I am talking about Christ and the Church.'

There is an order in marriage.
Ephesians 5:21
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
This is speaking of role and an attitude of humility not of value or worth.
James 4:6-7
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Submit yourselves then to God.
Galatians 3:26-29
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus, If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.
Authority and submission is the theme and Jesus Christ is our example. The Bible is consistent throughout. God is the Authority and we submit to him.
1 Corinthians 11:3
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
So the 1 Corinthians 11:3 passage needs to be set in context. It continues to tell of the relationship of husband and wife and the woman in public places in the light of Galations 3:26.
1 Corinthians11:8
For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head. In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
Again the verse needs to be viewed in Biblical context. This is an authority statement as demonstrated in the previous verses. We have verse 28 that follows verses 6 through 9.

John 14:28
You heard me say 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I."
John 14:6-9
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him"... Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.
The use of "I am" in verse 6 is one of seven self-descriptions Jesus used. In the Greek the words are solemnly emphatic and echo the Exodus 3:14 use given to Moses. Here they are:
John 6:35
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 9:5
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 8:58
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
John 10:7,9
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep... I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John 10:11, 14
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep. .. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep , and am known of mine.
John 11:25
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Believe you this?
By the way, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead a few verses later 11:43
John 15:1,5
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.... I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abide in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.
If you ever doubt that Jesus said he is the ONE God. This is one of the clearest statements of all. Especially when the reaction of the Jews is taken into consideration. It is this reaction that unmistakably defines the statement.
John 10:27-33
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shown you from my Father; for which of those works do you stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, makes yourself God.
Jesus humbles himself as well.
John 7:16
Jesus answered "My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me."
John 14:15-17
If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever -- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
John 4:23-24
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.
John 14:10-11
Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
John is not the only place to find this.
Deuteronomy 18:18
I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
The Deuteronomy passage is a covenant commission that God will lead by prophets starting with Joshua culminating in Jesus. Note that Joshua is the Hebrew form and Jesus is the Greek form of the name which means "the Lord saves". This statement of a linking of Deuteronomy to Jesus is stated by Peter:
Acts 3:22
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
Isaiah 40:35
A voice of one calling in the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our god. Every vally shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Is fulfilled in John the Baptizer.
John 1:23
He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.
John 1:32-35
Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me "The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit." I have seen and testify that this is the Son of God. The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"
Now remember that John 7:16 and John 14:10 talked about the teaching and these next two verses speek of the teacher. These next two verses contridict one another unless Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one just as we have demonstrated that the Father and the Son are one.
Matthew 23:10
Nor are you to be called 'teacher' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.
John 14:26
But the Counselor, The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.

Confirmed by Peter.
I Peter 1:11
in speaking of the prophets of old, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.
Acts 3:18
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
As has been layed out before: Jesus only spoke of what he was told to speak of by the Father. Now these things are off limits. These things would be a hinderance not a help.
Matthew 24:36
No one knows about that day or hour not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
Acts 1:7
It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority."
Mark 10:17-
As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered, "No one is good - except God alone." "You know the commandments; 'Do not murder, do not commit adultry, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, hohor your father and mother.'" "Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy." Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said "Go sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." At this the man's face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.) This young man here did not see Jesus as God even though he said it and proved it through miracles. He only thought of him as a "good teacher". He also believed himself to be "good" in his declaration of keeping the law. The greatest law is to "love the Lord your God". Jesus says some of the ten commandments but only the ones that look to other men. Jesus asked the young man to "Love God" more than his pride or his money. The young man was unwilling not unable to put God first. This passage does not have Jesus declare that he is not "good". It declares that we are not good and our work is not good. It is not what we do to others, it is what we do with his son.
James 2:10
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point , he is guilty of all.
Titus 3:4-7
But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
John 13:13
"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so; for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the give of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast.
Jesus chose his role and demonstrated his heart.
Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Phillipians 2:5 (can't say this one too often)
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death -- even death on a cross.
This submission role he passed on to us.
John 13:3
Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.... Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."

Jesus represents God to us and us to God.

Ephesians 2:18
For through him (Jesus Christ) we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
1 Timothy 2: 1-6
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time.
2 Corinthians 5: 17-19
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
Jesus is Judge.
Isaiah 42:1
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
Matthew 25:31
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me..... ...Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Do you Know Him?
Luke 13:24
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
