St. Scholastica’s College REC Class KKK Orientation

KKK Board Members and members

Board and org members gave an orientation about the history, vision, mission and goals of the organization to 4th yr high school students of St. Scholastica’s College Manila. The students were invited to join KKK once they graduate from high school and get into college.

Binangonan Youth Conference – Café Aurora, Binangonan Rizal

Conference Theme: “The Youth: Part of the Healing Process”. It is believed that through proper self-empowerment, the youth can effect a positive change within their local communities. Local growth makes the foundation of National Progress

KKK Facilitator’s Training – Asian Social Institute Manila

This training was set in preparation for the Capability Training Seminar on “Personhood” given to the youth of Binangonan.

Caloocan Youth Conference – Siena Retreat House : San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan

October 26-28, 2001

All KKK Chapter Core Groups, FCASI, Mrs. Carmen Cabato, National Youth Commission, Youth Program-ASI, Youth from Pangarap Village, Caloocan City

36 youth from Caloocan participated in this 3-day conference. They were a heterogeneous group composed of out-of-school youth, students and youth from the parish ministry, with ages ranging from 12 to 25. The conference carried the theme : ”Youth, part of the healing process of the nation”

Capability Training on “Personhood” for Binangonan Youth – Publing Ligaya Resort, Cardona Rizal

February 22-23, 2002

KKK Caloocan, Rizal and Manila Chapters, FCASI, Youth Program ASI, Youth of Binangonan, Rizal

Participated by more than 30 youth from Lunsad and Saudi Village Binangonan, Rizal. The Training focused on self-image, value formation and the importance of the family in Community Development.

Capability Training on “Community Organizing” – Asian Social Institute, Manila

April 17-18, 2002

All KKK Chapter Core groups, FCASI, Youth Program-ASI

This 2-day training program gave the core groups of KKK the necessarily skills in Community Organizing. The skills will then be applied in the organizations in terms of their expansion within and near by communities.

1st KKK Manila Congress – Antipolo City

May 9 – 11, 2002

KKK Manila Youth, KKK Core members from other chapters, National Youth Commission, Provincial Government of Rizal, Dr. Mina Ramirez, Mr. Ed Reyes, Prof Serafin Talisayon, Mrs. Alma De Leon, FCASI, Youth Program ASI

It is the 1st Conference to be given to the Manila Chapter of KKK with the theme  “Pagsasakaysayan : Pagbabalik tanaw sa nakaraan, pagkilos sa kasalukuyan, patungo sa maunlad na kinabukasan”. Attended by youth coming from different major Universities and Colleges within Metro Manila, they listened to speakers and participated on workshops that revolved around the topics of Social Consciousness, Filipino World View and Values and Synergism. It was an opportunity also for the members to plan the series of activities they plan to host within 2002-2003.

The activities were composed of a ceremony at the Rizal Park followed by a youth gathering at the Philippine Normal University focusing on Peace and Environmental Protection

Attendance to the “Pagsandiwa” – Lake Sebu, South Cotabato

It is a gathering of indigenous leaders and teachers from all over the country. It served as a consultation for the promotion of an indigenous curriculum which would ensure the preservation of their native culture. This was organized by the Asian Council for People’s Culture with major funding coming from Missio, CordAir, Brodederlijk Delen and the Philippine-Australia Governance Facility.

Immersion at Sampad, Cardona Rizal

The immersion was intended for a planned consultation session with the youth of Sampad, Cardona set within this year (2002) as part of the expansion program of KKK.

The organizers of the event presented a study on the Poverty Situation in Southeast Asia and the NGOs response to all these challenges. It was attended by key people from  NGO’s, different Government Units and other agencies concerned. They discussed possible course of action after the presentation of the paper

Personal Learning Mode Sessions with Prof. Serafin Talisayon – Asian Social Institute, Manila

March 9, 16, 23 and April 6, 2002

KKK Core Groups, Mr. Pabling Nuevas, Prof Serafin Talisayon.

Prof. Serafin Talisayon of the Doctoral Program of ASI coached a core group youth of KKK and an ASI staff on the topic of Personal Learning Mode.

The approach was experimental and unstructured but very effective in teaching the youth on a new way towards Personal Mastery and form of Learning within the Organization.

Eco-retreat by ECOPHIL Philippines – Banawe, Sagada and Benget

The Eco-Retreat was an experiential journey visiting the sights in Banawe, Sagada and Benget  using new approaches in teaching Creation and Eco-Spirituality.

The Youth Coordinator’s attendance fee was sponsored by the Center for Conscious Living of Prof Serafin Talisayon, ASI Doctoral Program. This Lecture Series was sponsored by the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s People at Work Section. Participants coming from different Corporate Companies gathered and listened to a number of known speakers who lectured on the topics of Personal Mastery, Emotional Intelligence and Synergy.

Survey was administered to different sectors of society from School youth from major universities and colleges, community youth and out of school youth. The result was used as data for a paper presented by the ASI President together with Prof Wilfredo Villacorta entitled “Duties of Parents to Youth and elders” presented at the Pontifical Council, Vatican.

This project was not done only to generate funds for the organization’s future project but an opportunity for the less fortunate families of Pangarap Village to acquire the things they need at reachable prices.

Kwentuhan sa Binangonan (story telling session)

30 children from Saudi Village and other surrounding towns were invited for a day of fun, games and story telling organized by the youth of KKK Manila and Binangonan, Rizal. Children were presented with different value oriented stories on love, environmentalism and nationalism.

KKK Story Telling Session – Angel’s Home, Sucat Parañaque

A post valentine project of KKK Manila. The activity was entitled “Pagmamahal sa Aking Maliit na Paraan” was a way of making kids experience love through story telling, games and bonding with the kids. The children came from the Father O’ Brien’s Angel’s Home in Caloocan and were moved to Parañaque City just last December 2001.

KKK Caloocan Anti-Rabies Project

With the assistance of OJT BSSW student Bro. Alex Omandam, Youth from Pangarap Village, Caloocan sponsored an anti-rabies vaccination campaign in their community.

 

This was the youth’s response to the growing number of rabies victims especially children who are bitten by stray dogs. More than 200 hundred dogs were vaccinated within and close by communities.

KKK Rummage Sale part 2 – Pangarap Village, Caloocan City

Due to insistent public demand, KKK Manila chapter with KKK Caloocan brought back the rummage sale to the community of Pangarap Village. It only took a couple of hours before more than half of the items were sold to less fortunate people who were anxious to buy them with their hard earned money.

Maka-kabataan is the official newsletter of KKK together with the Youth Program-ASI. It is published quarterly and contains the latest news on the organization’s activities and other youth literary writings.

Youth Program-ASI/KKK Environmental Program : “Tulong sa Kalikasan, Tulong sa Kabataan” (TSK2 Program)

KKK Inc., Youth Program-ASI

TSK2 is an environmental/fund raising program of KKK and the Youth Program-ASI. Instead of throwing their papers, the youth are encouraged to collect, gather and donate them to the Youth Office in ASI. Once a volume of papers is reached, the Youth Program will sell them to TIPCO(recycling company) for cash. Cash collected will then be used as funds for the printing of “Maka-Kabataan”, the newsletter of KKK and Youth Program-ASI.

The Youth Program-ASI provides OJT programs to BS Social Work students of ASI. They were assigned to Pangarap Village, Caloocan City to assist a community of Young individuals coping with land struggle and family problems.
