Best till date
People who have seen Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum feel that it is the best film made in the last two decades or so. They all swear by the film and say that the film will spell very good news for the film industry. Director Dharmesh Darshan, who has seen the film goes gaga about it. "I have not seen a better film in recent times at all," he says. "It's a wonderful film." Director Karan Johar's family friends and relatives who have seen the film have also shed buckets and buckets of tears after seeing the film. Kareina Kapoor says, "one should carry a few tissue paper boxes when they go to see the film. It's a film made by a very nice human being, which is why it is so good." Now lets see, whether the audiences cry while watching the film or after watching the film regretting why they bought the tickets. All the same Karan Johar can start a roaring business of tissue papers outside the theatres. How about merchandising tissues next, Karan

+650+ prints for K3G

With the release date of KABHI KHUSHI KABHI GHAM drawing nearer, one person who's getting more and more nervous is Karan Johar, the director of this mega-venture. "I'm scared, frightened and nervous. More so, because people feel that K3G will bail out the industry that has been through such a depressing year," Karan tells.

Karan is also keeping his fingers crossed because the makers themselves will distribute the film worldwide. "It's such a risk. I hope K3G clicks for my father's sake," the talented director adds. Meanwhile, the film will be released with 650 plus prints worldwide, which is a record for a Hindi film. "The prints could even cross 700, because the order keeps increasing with every week," Karan adds.

+Sachin turns Karan Johar down

While Abhishek Bachchan's guest appearance scene has been deleted, here is another interesting bit of juice on the year's most awaited film - Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam. It seems Karan Johar approached none other than ace batsman Sachin Tendulkar to make a special presence in the film. Why on earth would Karan want Sachin to do a special appearance in the film? It so happens that Kajol plays the character of a cricket buff in the film. So Karan wanted Sachin to bump into this character and create a sub plot around the situation when Kajol actually comes face to face with the little master blaster.

However Sachin has turned down the offer saying he is busy with other commitments. Confirming the news to B4Utv.com Karan Johar said, "Yes, I had approached Sachin Tendulkar to do a guest appearance in K3G, but he could not oblige." Finally there is someone who could resist the prodigal charm called Karan Johar. Given the casting coup of the millennium already achieved by the film, presence of Sachin would have just added to the glitz.

+KKKG to have 40 minutes of sp. effects

Remember the significant coin-spinning scene on the map of India in the beginning of LAGAAN? But very few people are aware that it was the brainchild of Pankaj Khandpur, the Creative Director of Western Outdoor, who spent almost two months observing how coins rotate before he managed the computer generated scene on screen. The shadows cast by dark clouds on the faces of excited villagers eagerly awaiting the rain in the same film, was also Khandpur's creative imagination at work.

Khandpur is now ready with the special effects of KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM, which has a record 40 minutes of special effects, though the film is an out-and-out romantic film and not a special effects' extravaganza like E.T.. "Most people refuse to believe that a romantic film can indeed have 40 minutes of special effects. But they'll know how beautifully visual effects are used when they see the film," Khanpur says, adding that he has worked closely with Karan Johar from day one on every possible visual effect related aspect, from colour correction to digital effects.

+KKKG v/s Maa Tujhe Salaam

It appears that MAA TUJHE SALAAM will now be pitched against KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM, with the producer of the former (Mahendra Dhariwal) re-scheduling the film for December 14 release. Dhariwal, who is extremely confident about the film, has decided to repeat Tinu Verma for his next film.

Meanwhile, Tinu has denied that he has signed any film for the Manekchands, who are in the process of entering the production arena in a big way (a section of the press had stated that the Manekchands had signed Tinu to direct a two-hero subject). I have been approached by at least three leading producers to direct films for them, but I am taking it easy at the moment, Tinu says.

+SLEEPLESS AND READY

TALKING of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham reminds us, the countdown to the movie has well and truly begun. With the phenomenally successful Kuch Kuch Hota Hai behind him, KARAN JOHARs anxiously preparing for his next big test at the turnstiles.

And Johars making no bones of the fact that hes having sleepless nights at the prospect -- he says the responsibility of doing justice to the six major stars in the cast has him worrying no end. Gone is the old appetite, and even sleep has become a major casualty, he admits. Youthful and successful Karan Johar may be. But he still wears his vulnerability with a smile.
