History Of  Kluang Karma Kagyu Dharma  Centre

                    Registration No.3248/95

Under the advice of their spiritual Master His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, a group of Buddhist got together to established a Vajrayana centre in Kluang. That was 18 years years ago. A group of Mahayana Buddhists were confronted by all the obstacles, but went ahead and succeeded in the registration of the Kluang Karma Kagyu Buddhist Society (KKKDC) in 1985.

After the formation, the society were so fortunate that a lot of  visiting Rinpoches and eminent teachers had come to teach the precious Buddha dharma. As the society became more and more active, the committee proposed to start a temple building fund. A generous sponsor has even (the then President) donated a piece of land for the society to build a temple . The ground-breaking ceremony was performed by H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpoche in 1988 and blessed by many high tulkus of the Karma Kagyu lineage.

H.E. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche had graciously consented to assist the fund raising campaign. Unfortunately before the temple was contructed, H.E. Jamgon Rinpoche met a tragic accident in April 1992. Worst, The controversial committees and the contumacious president failed to submit the annual account resulted the society was deregistered on the same year.

In end 1993, some of the old committee members desperately approached a Dharma devotee seek alternative and registered a new society under the name of Kluang Karma Kagyu Dharma Center (kkkdc) consisting of new as well as old members.

The day-to-day affairs of the centre are  managed by a committee composed of 15 office bearers elected by members biennially.

An enthusiastic Buddhist, the first UKKF secretary, took the initiative to invite KKKDC to joint the United Karma Kagyu Federation in the year-end of 1995.

Without any objection by the other societies KKKDC was included in the member of UKKF. By the guidance of UKKF, the centre became more and more active, and the committee began to look for a better place where located at No.7, 1st Floor, Jln Kampung Paya Kluang Baru, Kluang chosen by Lama Tsewang of Nenang Monastery Tibet, who visited kluang in 1st May 1996.

With the support and assistance of the UKKF and its members, the centre had successfully organized two grand pujas in the year of 1996 (by Ven. Thrangu Rinpoche) and Khenpo Tsutrim Jurgme of Rumtek (1997 Wesak day Celebration) They collected sufficient funds to operate the centre activities till now.

The fullest Co-operation and kind support from our members and well-wishers to carry out the dharma activities in recent years had won the good appraise from the UKKF   members and elected as new principle centre for the year of 2000-2001. This indeed a new challenge to our centre for the new millenium.
