Meeting on Global Call to Action Against Poverty

On an international level, over the next 12 months a series of landmark meetings are taking place where world leaders can finally stop 30,000 people dying needlessly every day
, just because they’re poor. In view of this Civil Society Organisation have organised themselves under the campaign Global Call to Action Against Poverty. This is a world-wide alliance committed to forcing world leaders to live up to their promises, and to make a breakthrough on poverty in 2005. In view of this international campaign Kopin took to lead to set up meeting where a number of interested organisations will discuss the possibility of participating in this International C! ampaign through setting up a National Campaign. In fact the Global Call to Action against Poverty is made up of national campaigns around the world. Countries will be building on existing networks, and the strategies and activities that are already being planned. The campaign is demanding that world leaders do more to achieve trade justice, drop the debt, increase and improve aid, and ultimately live up to their promises. As Koperattiva Kummerc Gust we believe that everyone has the right to feed their families, make a decent living and protect their environment. But the rich and powerful are pursuing trade policies that put profits before the needs of people and the planet. To end poverty and protect the environment we need Trade Justice. We feel that we can contribute a lot to any National Campaign as part of the Global Call to Action against Poverty.
All Koperattiva Kummerc Gust members are urged to attend a meeting to be held on Friday the 21st of January at Dar Sarria, Floriana at 7.15 p.m. This meeting will be chaired by Kopin and there will be a present also a number of other NGOs, trade unions and individuals keen on working together to make a difference in 2005. With your support extraordinary things are possible in 2005.
