at the Ngoma Festival

L-Arka will be putting up a stand during the Ngoma Festival - African Sounds and Flavours on Saturday 12 February, 2005, between 4.00pm and 10.00am, at St. James Cavalier in Valletta. Entrance to all events, which includes a live concert by the African band Kilimanjaro at 8.00pm, is free.

 

African food, hair weaving, an art workshop for children, and a djembe circle will provide the Sounds and Flavours of this Ngoma Festival. This event is being organized by Inizjamed with the support of the EU Familiarization Funds, Third World Group, JRS Malta, Koperattiva Kummerċ Ġust, Kopin, Moviment Graffitti, GAIA Foundation, and the Jesuit Faith and Justice Centre.

 

The climax of the Festival will be a live concert by the African band Kilimanjaro, made up of musicians, singers and dancers from Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo, who will invite all those present to dance to their music. Kilimanjaro play Afro-Cuban music, Afro-Raga, Soukous, Rumba, Zouk, and Salsa. In November they gave a performance full of energy and rhythm during the 2004 Taste the World fair trade Festival, “Spice Up Your Life” at St. James Cavalier. [Read more]
