Riverbuggin' & Wearable Arts!

Thursday, September 24, 1998

Well, I can't remember if I told you about my riverbugging experience so I'll make it brief.  Riverbuggin' is basically like a high-tech inner-tube that you sit in.  Sort of like cruising through rapids in a La-Z-Boy, if you will, except, for me, muchmore difficult to stay in.  Anyway, we went down some pretty awesome stretches of rapids in these little things that some lunatic Kiwi invented and about drowned twice (just kidding, mom.)  I did, however, have a very difficult time keeping mine upright and spent most of the time going down the rapids with just me and my wetsuit.  The guides kept making wisecracks about the next time some crazy girl from Texas shows up they won't even bother to give her a riverbug, just throw her in and tell her to go hard.  Ha.  At any rate, with the exception of a few large bruises and a sore ankle, I made it out alive and had a great time all in all.  So, that's riverbugging.

Last night I went to the New Zealand Wearable Arts show which is becoming world famous and, let me just tell you, it was really spectacular!  It's like all your wildest dreams coming to life!  The costumes are out of this world and the show was absolutely stunning!  There were dragonflies and angels, gargoyles and butterflies, and everything defies description!  It was overwhelming with all the lights and the colors and the music.  They actually brought Alice in Wonderland to life and it was sensational!  And, unfortunately, no cameras were allowed so I have to try and keep a mental image of how beautiful it all was.  Truly a memorable show.  I've never seen anything like it in all my life!  So, that's been my big excitement for the evening.  Just 2 more days in Nelson and then I'm off down the West Coast.  Will tell you all about it, rest assured!
Take care.
Love,
Kodie
P.S.  For those who have been asking, ie. Cary Frieden, I have been on the road now for 87 days!  Can you believe it???   Me either!

After leaving Nelson, I headed off down the Wild West Coast for some more excellent adventures.
ROCK ON!!!
