Nananu-I-Ra was the second island we stayed on. It was on the north-east side of Viti Levu, the big island of Fiji. We stayed in traditional Fijian thatch hut bures like the one below. |

And, as if life wasn't hard enough, we spent our days on Turtle Beach where we were frequently the only ones around. Aaaahhhh. ..this is paradise! |

FYI: Mana Backpackers has an all-inclusive package with meals and lodging for about $25FJ a day. Charges are pretty minimal for snorkelling trips and island-hopping day trips as well. |
We stayed at Kontiki on Nananu-I-Ra which really was lovely and cost about $15F a night, if memory serves. Not much to do there other than laze the day away in hammocks, swim in the ocean, or walk along the beach but if you're looking for a very laid-back atmosphere, this is an ideal spot. |
