A Study Of The Resurrection

Of Jesus Christ

"To Him Be All The Glory"

I am the Resurrection

John 11:25

Jesus said unto her, I am the Resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

I guess today's daily bread will seem short but sweet. The Resurrection of our lord is what we are about to celebrate this weekend. After all he suffered and endured on the cross for us and through his trials yet now we remember as Easter approaches, the glory of his resurrection. He arose victorious over the grave, over death and Hell. He promised he would come back someday and take us home. There is another resurrection day to come.

I hope the above speaks to your heart today. Remember, he overcame it all with victory, making a way of escape for you and I. What a Joyous occasion this is!
Whatever the need may be in your life today, give it to the one who can conquer all. Give it to Jesus. He is the reason for the season.

A change

Luke23:50-56

50 ¶ And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

I am always amazed at how Jesus left a home in glory and took upon himself the flesh of a man and was born in a stable, having not even a baby blanket to be wrapped in. Never did he own a home, YET HE OWNED IT ALL.

All he had was his garment and even the soldiers took that from him and cast lots for it when he was being crucified. He was forsaken by his disciples. He was betrayed by a friend. He was mocked and beaten and spit upon. He was scourged by unmerciful Roman soldiers. He was crucified upon a cross between two thieves, yet he still showed mercy.
When he died we read today of how this man named Joseph came and asked for his body. He laid him in his own tomb. Again Jesus did not have a place to be buried , but that was alright. He wouldn't need to use it but three days. Then he would arise as he said he would. I am amazed at the love of such a savior that would come to Earth for our sakes and not having an Earthly dwelling place yet prepared a way for us to have an eternal one with him. The greatest story ever told my friends is this story of our savior's love for us. It did not end in the grave, if it had, we still would have no hope, but he conquered it all so that we that believed on him unto Salvation would never die.

Our bodies will die eventually but it will just be laid to rest for a little while. When Christ comes back upon the clouds of glory as he said he would and the trumpets will sound then the dead in Christ shall rise.

Why should the graves burst open if there wasn't going to be something come out of it?
Some innocently use the term "new body". I know it will be new in the sense to us that it will be perfect but it will be that same body changed into a perfect estate as the son of God's and in his likeness. It says that those that remain will be changed in the moment and the twinkling of an eye. Just to be a help to you, you will not find the word "new body" in the scriptures. New means another.

If it were going to be new then Jesus wouldnt have to cause the graves to burst open right? What happens when you sow a seed? from that same seed comes forth life.

We are planted in the Earth at death but we too will come forth. Read the words of Job: Job 14:14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come
also read more of Jobs words: job 19:26 and 27: And though after my skin worms destroy this body yet in my flesh shall I see God. whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another. I had no idea I would cross this today but as I have I hope it has been a help to you. Jesus rose in the same body he died in but then it was changed. So will ours be. New means another, changed means a resurrection. It can confuse new converts who don't know better. I am thankful I was raised under preaching and heard it as it was and is.

His word changeth not. Websters defines the word resurect as so: 1) to raise from the dead; bring to life again.2)to bring back into use. Websters definition of Resurrection means: the act of rising from the dead..

I encourage you all to read the 15th chapter of first Corinthians I will quote one verse to you here , I think it pretty much says it all: verse 51.Behold, I shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. I will use this for an example: My hair is my hair ok?

But If I dye it or have it cut into another style it is still my hair, it is not new hair it is just mine with a new look. Perhaps that is what alot of people mean when they use the term new body but fact is it is not scripture, it could give someone a totally different impression of the truth which is what happens when we use our terms instead of the written word. Just as Mary was a virgin but some people have changed the words to "young woman" giving the scripture a whole new meaning, a young woman can be any type of a person but a virgin is a virgin so we need to be careful to use God's word in the way it is written . My hair would still be my hair it would just have been changed into an improved state or look but If I were to have new hair then I would have to buy a wig. I hope that made sense! :)

Because he arose, we too shall rise. I hope this has been a blessing to you today!
May God bless you is my prayer!

Joy in the morning

Psalm 30:5

For his anger endureth but a moment;in his favour is life:
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

LUKE CHAPTER 24

1 ¶ Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
8 And they remembered his words,
9 And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

We read in Luke 23:28 of the women that was following him to the cross and weeping for him. Jesus told them not to weep for him but for themselves and their children. They watched as he was crucified, they followed Joseph to the tomb with him, they watched as the stone was rolled over the door way.

These same women went back home and they did not forget about him, they prepared something. They had went all the way with the Lord but they still wanted to do all they could for him. Wasn't there something else they could do?
They could prepare spices to take and anoint his body. Yes, they wanted to do this. They rose up early at their first opportunity. It was morning. They went to the tomb. They were the very first to see and witness, he was not there. They were perplexed, they did not know what had happened. Then the angels spoke to them. "Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here he is risen! THEN THEY REMEMBERED HIS WORD. What a joyous morning!

Their sorrow was all gone, the heartache was gone. He had risen. They remembered his word and they believed, then they went and told the disciples the message. He had risen.

They told them about the angels, but they did not believe. Then something happened to Peter. Peter just had to know, he went to the tomb himself, to see for himself. He found out the message the women had told him was the truth.

The tomb was empty and he wondered about these things. They had not believed the women. Their words they considered to be just as idle tales. They were just women, what could they know,? Perhaps that is what they thought but they did not believe until they saw for themselves. He arose. What Joy they all had in their hearts when they saw him and after his ascension, they were daily in the temple praising God. What Joy! They had watched him taken from their site and again two men in white apparel told them another great thing. There would be another joyous morning, another resurrection Morn to look forward to when Christ would return.

This today is our hope. When we bury our loved ones, this is our hope, We have his promises. We have his word. What a comfort when we remember it. When we are going through trials and heartache and persecutions and our heart is breaking, there is another joyous morning we can look to and then the dark shadows will have to flee. There will be no more darkness only light. JOY! JOY! JOY!

COMFORT YE ONE ANOTHER WITH THESE WORDS:
1st Thessalonians 4:13-18

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if ye believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

verse 18: WHEREFORE COMFORT ONE ANOTHER WITH THESE WORDS.

If that doesn't comfort you then something is wrong. What a joyous morning that will be..when my Jesus I shall see!
It doesn't matter whether I have been planted for 100 years in the ground. I love that old song "he didn't throw the clay away" and he never will, it is going home in a glorified estate likened unto the son of God!

That is Joy in the Morning. That is our hope. That is the Word. It is to be a comfort. When you hear someone come across these scriptures on the resurrection, it is for your comfort. It should make us want to shout. Thank God for it. It is our only hope, if we had hope in this life only, we would be of men most miserable. My hope is in his word, the promises it holds. Joy in the morning.

They can seal it it steel but like sister cook sings "there ain't no grave gonna hold this body down!" (ain't is a word in the south folks) "When I hear that trumpet sound, I'm gonna get up outta that ground because there ain't no grave gonna hold my body down!". Glory Glory! Won't it be glory? He will bring the souls back with him, they will unite with the body then everything will be complete and we'll be going home. I am going home where the Joy shall never end. I won't remember the night, or the weeping for it will all be joy!

This week we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and we "remember his word" and the promises he has left for us to look forward to. Joy in the morning. I look forward to that morning! Won't it all be glory!!!

I hope these words have been a comfort to you today!
May God bless you!

An Empty Tomb

MATTHEW CHAPTER 28

1     ¶ In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2     And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3     His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4     And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5     And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6     He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7     And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8     And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10     Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
11     ¶ Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
12     And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
13     Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
14     And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15     So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
16     ¶ Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17     And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18     And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19     Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20     Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The Witness

The empty tomb of our Lord was an open testimony to all in that region to come and see for themselves the folded grave clothes, the stone rolled away, the empty tomb. It was a witness to what had taken place. Joseph was a prominent man and well known, no doubt everyone knew where it was located. It didn't matter that there were guards, it didn't matter how heavy the stone was. God can do all things. An angel had came down and there had been an earthquake, the stone was rolled back, the tomb was empty ,still the soldiers had chosen to take a bribe over the witness that was right before them. It is sad today that there are people who have seen the Lord at word, they have seen a witness that there is a reality to what we, as Christians profess but they are not concerned about their soul. They are worried  what their friends might think, they are too busy trying to make a living here on Earth and choosing to ignore the fact that this life will end someday and as a tree falls so shall it lie the bible says. If you die saved, you will remain saved. If you die lost, there will be no other chance for your soul. There is still plenty of evidence today of the resurrection of Christ. He now sits at the right hand of the father making intercession for you and I.

I hope if you read this and you are lost that you will consider the condition of your soul. How will it be with you? Too many people choose not to hear, too many people just have some things they don't want to give up. Christ suffered and died and then completed it all when he arose. He gave us the hope of a better tomorrow. We have hope of heaven now. It takes more than just believing in Christ. Even the devils in hell believe. The bible says "ye must be born again". You must be begotten by the word, hear it for yourself. Did it stir your heart, is there something urging you to pray. Whatever you do, don't put it off until tomorrow. You do not have the promise of tomorrow, but you have today. Repent of your sins, that means to be sorry for them, and to turn away from them and asking forgiveness. Confessing just what we are and our need for the Lord. He said he would be near to those that are of a broken heart and will save such as have a contrite spirit. Give it all to Jesus. He will be waiting for you with outstretched arms.

Jesus went before us and he endured it all for us. He was our example. He taught us how to pray, he taught us that we should love one another. He suffered like us human emotions, he suffered pain and heartache. He arose from the grave and left it open for the world to see what was and is to come. He left a promise of his return and we too will come forth if we have been buried, no matter how long we have been there. God knows all things. He knows where every little seed is. Even those who have been cremated. God is all powerful. Nothing is impossible with God. Nothing. This is our hope. I will leave you now with the following scripture found in Romans the 8th chapter: verses 18-25 ..this is what we wait and hope for:

18     For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

19     For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20     For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21     Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22     For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

23     And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

24     For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25
But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

May God bless the reading of his word
