Can't write free verse
I must hold tight to
rules and rhymes
of the sonnets

freeing me
rules and rhymes
imprisoning me
yet still I turn
always turn
dive
into free, frightening verse
just to prove
to whom?
myself
that I can do it all
even when I can't
this is my curse
this is my blessing
this is my tenacity
