The Light

Misguided into my own misfortune,

In blackened silence, there I stood.

Surrounded by a vast sense of endless doom.

Knowing not what I had done nor what I should.

Despite the torment of this frigid terrain,

I fought on ever strong,

With only the warmth within my soul to ease the pain,

And grant me wisdom of right from wrong.

As I trudged on in search of peace,

My inner light grew faint,

And I feared the moment that it might cease.

So I continued on without restraint.

Inevitably or so it seemed,

My light began to flicker.

A single tear I shed for all that I had dreamed.

And In that mere moment the mists seemed thinner.

Radiant beams of celestial light,

Tore through the desolate land,

And before me I saw in my weakened sight,

Beauty beyond that which I could understand.
