Introducing Q.L.Ds premier country rock band Kerry Kennedy and Double Barrel

THE BAND

Lead by lead singer/songwriter Kerry Kennedy, Double Barrel stand and deliver their own style of country, playing the old classics right up to today’s crossover country. Kerry was a finalist in the 1997 Tamworth Starmakers awards, the same year he was placed in the top 5 in the Queenslands Sunnie Awards and in 2000 was one of the top 5 finalists in the T.I.A.R.I.A. awards for the song “Glass Of Wine”.

During the last few years the band has been called upon to support many of Australia’s top artist’s such as Daryl Braithwaite, James Rayne, Felicity, Darren Coggan, Dave Gleeson and the Feral Swing Cats, and with their own C.D. pushing its way into the radio stations all over Australia and New Zealand, Double Barrel are a band to watch in the future.

The band consists of four fully professional musicians, starting off in the engine room on bass is Billy Sell, a former member of rock’n’blue’s band Frontline, and has shared the stage with legend blue’s man Doc Span, before joining Double Barrel in 1993.

His partner on drums, Rick Kent, originally from Melbourne he has had an illustrious career, both in television and on the stage.

Rick started his musical career with top Australian band The Vibrants who had several charting hits in the five years he was with them, he then moved onto teaching before moving to England to join popular London group Basic Truth.

Rick has also been heavily involved with recording and management, at one time managing Lisa Edwards (Farnham Band) and recording the likes of Christie Allen, and Men At Work. He has toured the world, backing artist   such as Chuck Berry, The Osmond bro and Roy Orbison.

On the lead guitar from Toowoomba we have one of the young guns of Australian country rock. Michael Eelkama is surely one of the finest guitarists touring this country at this present time, a former hard rocker, Mick delivers his own style of country to spice up some of the old songs, but is conscious of keeping the smooth country sound.
