| When I first started this page, our home was filled with pets. Cats running through the house chasing each other half the night...while a dog snored at the foot of our bed. Benji and Tasha got us started when they joined our family in 1979, followed by Cyndi a few years later...and then Baby. In 1991 we brought Ruffie home, a puppy for the kids. Benji was my baby and didn't have much interest in playing with anyone else. Tasha left us in 1994, followed a year later by his lifelong companion Benji. Still our house was alive with cat hair and dog tracks on the hardwood floor. The other animals stepped up and filled the void they left behind. Stumpy joined our family in 1996 after my mother passed away. Two years later Oliver showed up and decided to stay. We were never able to bring him inside, but he seemed quite happy to sleep in his warm house under the patio, and on sunny days he would lie on the step and talk to the 'girls' who were sunning themselves inside. Although he was a stray, he was a part of our family too, and we loved him. He received the same care as our indoor cats, plenty of food, shelter and medical attention when it was required, and I always made time to play with him each day. The house is quiet these days. Baby and Stumpy are all that remain of our large family of pets. Someday, when I cross the Rainbow Bridge, I will no doubt be crushed by the stampede! |

| The Rainbow Bridge | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Rainbow Bridge was given to me by someone who understands. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth. It is called "The Rainbow Bridge" because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group! YOU have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him, or her, in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be seperated. |
