Technology is used in different aspects at Pearcy Elementary, depending on the roles staff play in the school.
In Ms. Batchko's kindergarten classroom, the students use the computers to reinforce what the are learning in class. This usually is in the form of games, edutainment, since this type of drilling is usually more interesting to younger children. Ms. Batchko stated that she uses the computer mainly for email and contact throughout the district, however, she doesn't use it for much else. Ms. Batchko stated that she does use the computer to research for the classroom on occassion. On the other hand, in higher level classrooms the students may use the computers for research and also to type papers.
From my observations I've concluded that A.I.S.D. is not using the computers to teach any of the 21st century skills mentioned in the CEO Forum. |
