He tries to fit in and be just another face in the crowd wherever he goes. Duke was born and raised in NY City. All you have to do is hear the accent and you can tell. His father was killed in a mysterious construction accident when he was about 10. After that, his mother slowly started losing her sanity and got involved with the seedier side of the big city. Socializing with a known criminal element was not out of the question. So Duke began to learn things from his mother's new found 'friends' and their associates. He got involved with a local gang, and at 14, he was arrested for picking a tourist's pocket. He got off after 3 days in juvenile detention thanks to 'uncle' Vito. He went back to his gang friends again. After about 3 or 4 years, his mother finally lost her sanity and her lifestyle enabled the Enemy to taint her. She gained the power to transform herself like a lycanthrope. Duke noticed a change in her, but didn't know exactly how much of a change until he saw her transform one night into a demonic creature and bend his 'uncle' Rob almost in half. Needless to say, Duke was out of there pronto. He spent the next 2 years or so wandering around from job to job and place to place. Then he heard about things that most folk don't understand - the Enemy and magic and different Societies - on the streets. Just a rumor here and a bit of gossip dropped there. But that and his old first hand experience was enough to put him in the right place at the right time and get a recruitment offer from the White Rose. Duke has recently relocated his home to Stockholm Sweden, where he has a nice Alpine villa provided by the Swedish government.
