| This is a cross sectional view through the middle of the cooking chamber. You can see the baffle in relation to the fire box opening as well as the grate(s) in the cooking chamber. I am currently using a double baffle in the fire box of the cooker (not shown) which was pretty much built off the cuff so I don't have sketches of it. There are a pictures in the SnP Mods section of this website that show the coal basket/baffle construction. |

| This is a 3D view of the cooking chamber of my Smoke 'n Pit. As of this writing (3/20/01) the smoke stack modification is complete and has been proven effective in helping maintain uniform heat through out the cooking chamber. The other modification shown in this drawing is the addition of the fire box opening baffle and the tuning plate. These 2 parts have been passed along to the guy that has been cutting out all of my pieces (actually quite a while ago!) and I hope to get to try them out soon! The baffle is designed to rest on the bottom of the cooking chamber and the tuning plate in turn rests on a ledge on the baffle. The other end of the tuning plate rests on the bottom of the cooking chamber as well. The tuning plate is open on all 3 sides (besides the one that rests on the baffle. |
