For the past three years I held the position of Picture Editor for the Times Newspapers Group in Howick, a position I took up after nearly 7 years as a senior staff photographer with the Press newspaper in Christchurch. Prior to that I worked on a magazine in Christchurch and earlier was a photographer on the staff at the Oamaru Mail. One of the highlights of my last assignment with the Times group was being directly involved in the implementation of high end digital camera technologies into the paper. Challenges were faced and overcome in the training of computer illiterate photographers, the use and maintenance of these expensive Kodak DCS520 camera's and all this whilst maintaining a high standard of photographic ability. This photographic work was rewarded earlier this year when I was presented with the CNA Senior Photographer of the year award. My experience profile contains successfully completed assignments covering both major news and sporting events in many countries including Australia, Spain, England, USA, Japan, China, Singapore, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga., as well as assignments for many national/ international newspapers and magazines. I have also successfully completed what is now the main photographers prize in the Qantas awards, the Missouri Photo Workshop, during a tour of American newspapers in 1991. I can be contacted anytime on 025 276 7075 or 09 272 3372 and am available for immediate start.
