In Benjamin Franklin's autobography the issue of personal gain is a major role in what Franklin is tring to instill in his son through his autobiogaphy. Even as a child Franklin was interested in making profit as in the book he was saling some of the poetry that he wrote until his father told him it made him seem like a begger. Throughout his autobiography it seems that he doing more or networking to get more so he canspend more. As a youngster Franklin would save his money just so he could get by. Once Benjamin Franklin got in to the market he changed that view on saving he started to spend more. Even the purchase of slaves shows the way he spent his money.
In ERIC Digest it says that good self-esteem is when a person attitude is positive toward themselves and others also having satifaction in yourself. In Benjamin Franklin autobiography having self-esteem and the will to improve yourself are respected points of his book. In the book Franklin education mostly done by himself. He gets to attend numerous schools and busniess meeting. Franklin teaches himself how to use language to his advantage. Where Frankiln where he came from wasn't peaches and cream, there were those that didn't think he would make it someone told him to consider the field of blacksmithing. Instead of listening to what others told him he pressed his way to the top.
Even though Benjamin Franklin
was a hard working and determined person which could make him a prime
canidate for some to admire, but to others it might seem differrent. Benjamin
Franklin acomplished all these in that time period, but Franklin was a
white male which gave a better chance than a white female, or blacks would
have. This could discourage these types of people from trying to better
themselves. Benjamin Franklin has said racism conments in his book,"blacks
only use is to be bought or sold and native americans are acoholics" how
can that incourage and native or african american only by proving that
he is wrong. As you can see there is good reason that I feel Benjamin Franklin's
autobiography shouldn't be read by high school students
