I, ___________________________, agree that the above mentioned animal is being adopted/purchased by myself as a pet for myself/my family.
In signing this agreement, I agree to, in the event that I am no longer able to keep, give adequate care, or am unwilling to keep the abovementioned animal, that I will contact the aforesaid owner/breeder, giving them the option to reclaim the animal at no cost. Should they be unable to reclaim the animal, I will, with their help, place the animal in a pet home only.
I hereby agree to provide care for the above described pet in a humane and responsible manner, providing it with adequate shelter, food, water and veterinary care for the term of its natural life. I agree to meet all special needs as described below:
______ OLDER MALE/FEMALE RESCUE – this animal is of an age approximate to that stated on the pedigree – age will be at the estimation of the rescuer (breeder, RSPCA). It’s background will be largely unknown, and, with females, will not be bred. There will be no guarantee regarding health, as no medical or breeding history will be available.
______ KITTEN RESCUE – this animal’s age may/may not be known to the current owner. This animal, if to be bred from, is bred at the discretion of the adopter/purchaser. The kitten must be housed in a same sex colony. There will be no guarantee regarding health, as no medical or breeding history will be available.
______ PET ONLY CONTRACT – may not be bred from with out current owner’s consent, this animal is purchased with the express desire that it be housed in a same sex colony. If for any reason, this animal does become pregnant, the current owner will be notified immediately. This animal, at no time, will be offered for sale through a pet shop of any description. The purchaser will endeavour to maintain complete records pertaining to the medical health, type of bedding used, type of foods fed. These details will be supplied to the original owner on a regular basis so that their Rattery records can be maintained.
______ BREEDING CONTRACT – this animal is sold with the full understanding that it is the intention of the purchaser to breed with this animal. This animal, along with its future generations, will not be sold as food, nor will it be bred with the intention of providing food for another animal. This animal and its offspring shall at no time be offered for sale through a pet shop of any description. The purchaser will endeavour to maintain complete records pertaining to the medical health, type of bedding used, type of foods fed, breeding habits, number of progeny (incl. sexes, colours, details of Sire). These details will be supplied to the original owner on a regular basis so that their Rattery records can be maintained.
I agree that the fee of $______ helps cover the current owner’s expenses of raising and caring for the animal, and is not refundable after a period of two weeks (14 days) where the reason for the return of the animal is due to a change of mind.
Wherein the animal, within the first month of ownership, displays temperament issues which are of an aggressive/disturbing nature, the animal must be returned.
I agree that, although the current owner has endeavoured to breed healthy, well temperamented animals, that the animal purchased is healthy at the time of purchase, but not disease resistant. I understand that the current owner has made no representations or warranties, expressed or implied, about the aforementioned animal’s health and suitability of the animal, to the adopter/purchaser and his/her family.
I agree that the current owner is hereby absolved from any liability for future damages or injuries caused by said animal or veterinary bills.
