You will not get a credit card here in the US if you just recently relocated. The reason is that you for obvious reasons don't have a credit history and they flatly deny you the card even if you had a card in the country you are comming from. That was at least my experience.

My solution was to convert my norwegian American Express card to a US account. I had to talk to the office in Norway to do this! It might be a good idea to do this before you relocate if you need the card immediatly.
