Superintendents Corner: Highland Memorial Park
Today is August 6th 2009
Unfortunatly the dry conditions persist and we need to get a 3 or 4 day slow soaking rain to green things up. We have been working on raising markers and settled graves this summer and most are finished. We want to keep watering the sod and seeded areas now before continuing with raising the low areas so we can keep up with the watering. With the air being dry the water that is sprayed on the sod or seed will evaporate as fast as it soaks in so only half the water that is put down is used by the plant. That's okay but it means we have to water more often. We also are working on cutting down dead trees so we can get the stumps ground and those areas seeded before late September. We did want to fix some drainage areas this year but those projects will have to wait until next year. We most likely will be getting some sod the week of August 10th so if a newer grave is not sodded at this time it will be shortly. I don't like to put down more than 50 rolls per week now so we can keep it watered while it establishes a root system. At the end of October the Web site that hosts this page for me will be closing and I will either have to find a new hosting site or abandon this web page. Thanks to all of the people who had visited this site in the past, I wish I could have had the time to make it a weekly report. If I find a new site maybe I will make a concerted efoort to update this page more often and add more pictures that depict the landscape and things we do on the grounds. I will try and update this site until it closes every 2 weeks, Thanks again.
