Ocean Breeze - Part 1

Rating: R or NC-17 (Kathb, you know my unwillingness to commit to just rating...LOL) Des'iree was the only one not dancing. Truth to tell, she hated techno with the fire of a thousand suns, but her friend Ananda (who loved techno) had convinced her to give up her daily routine of hot coco and a good book to come and listen to people play shit and have bright lights in her face. Oh joy.

She sat through something from someone called 'Katchfraze' and tried in vain to get into the beat of the music. No such luck. If anything, she was getting a neck-ache. God, can't I just go home and watch 'NYPD Blue??'

Above the roar of yelling and clapping, she could hear an argument coming from behind her. Some guy called Cinnamon or something weird like that was talking to a T.J. and a Anamika, who, surprisingly, she knew from several parties that Ananda had thrown. Boring parties. Filled with drugs and shit-for-brains people.

"Damn it Simeon," oh, so it was Simeon. Pot head hippies for parents, apparently. The guy called T.J. continued, "You can't just do that. You can't just...fuck and take flight. You broke a poor girls heart- again."

"T.J. man, chill out! I was only doing what I ALWAYS do. She knew me, she knew who I was. I can't just...commit to one woman just because she's got the feelings of fuckin' Bambi."

"That's not the point. You-"

"Then what is? And can you cool it down man? I've got a set coming up now and you're ruining the vibe for me."

"Oh Jesus, will you stop talking like some ecstasy-addict?" (Spelled it wrong, I know)

"Once again, my feelings have been trampled on. Later."

Des'iree felt the light swish of air as Simeon passed her. Damn, he was tall. And dressed like something out of 'Airheads.' But, that is what is to be expected in this place. When he got up on stage and turned to the cheering audience, she could see better his dark hair when he took of his clown-like purple and gold hat, and she could see really nice facial features. It was no surprise the guy was a womanizer; he was on par with Mel Gibson, or Andy Garcia????

"Welcome once again ravers!! Okay, okay, okay, I've just finished this new set for ya, and please, no vomiting or anything hostile, okay?"

Laughter. Des'iree rolled her blue eyes, and adjusted her frosty blonde hair behind her ears, ready for another crappy number. Simeon flicked a couple of switches and grinned devilishly at the guy behind her, as well as a few choice ladies in the crowd. He started moving his feet to the time of the heartbeat music, and suddenly, a crescendo of light shot out at her and she yelped and almost flew back in her chair.

A sound that could only be described as metallic began booming out at the crowd. A lighter one, one that twirled in the air began in a different key. Des'iree was a classically trained pianist and laughed out loud when she head the melody to one of Bach's tunes creep out of the keyboard. She started smiling; this guy really knew what he was doing. And the lights weren't that bad. In fact, everything about it was catchy.

By the end of Simeon's number she had surprised herself by being on her feet and was cheering along with everyone else. Damn, she was cheering herself hoarse. Simeon finished his set with aplomb and much energy and Des'iree felt that every ounce of him was in that music. By the end, he was sweating like some sort of farm animal.

He hopped off the stage and grabbed a water bottle. He chitchatted with a few people who went over to talk with him and smiled through the conversation. This man was obviously charismatic. Des'iree felt herself compelled to go over and talk to him; to tell him that he had changed her mind about techno at least. So she did. She smushed her body between the hoards of people and found herself at the side of the stage standing with the now alone Simeon.

"You're Simeon, right?"

"Yep." He flashed a million dollar grin her way which she ignored.

"My names Des'iree. I really liked what you played and that's unusual for me cause I can't stand techno. Really, I can't. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know what I thought."

Simeon cocked his head to one side and stared at her.

"What did you think?"

"I think you're a very talented man. And a very conceited one."

He surprised her completely by throwing his head back in laughter. When he stopped laughing, there was still that smile resting on his face.

"Well, since you don't like the music, what do you say we go to 'Poet Coffee', it's right down the street, so we can talk?"

"Fine. But no come-ons."

"Cool with me."

Des'iree nodded.

"I just have to go tell my friend that I'll see her later tonight at home."

When Des'iree left, Simeon studied her retreating back with interest.

"Don't bet on going home tonight baby," he murmured to himself.
