Dear Expectant Mother,
We want to start off by expressing to you how much we admire you for being
so courageous by considering an adoption plan for your baby. We know that
you must love your baby very much and are only trying to do what you feel
is best for them. We respect you and no matter what choice you make we
only hope for the very best for you. Thank you for taking the time to read
our letter.
Our names are Kim, Johnnie and Gavin. We are a happy, loving family who
can’t wait to have another baby to love and cherish. We know from
experience what a blessing adoption is. In March of 2001 Gavin was
lovingly placed in our arms by his birth mom and we are forever grateful
for the gift she has given us. No words can describe how in that moment
all of the past heartache and frustration was wiped away. After numerous
infertility treatments and two heart breaking miscarriages we decided that
adoption was the best way for us to build our family. All we have ever
wanted was to be parents and we are so thankful to have the opportunity to
fulfill that dream through adoption. Since that day Gavin has been the
sweetest blessing of our lives. He has brought us great joy and happiness
and we know that the addition of another little one will bring us even
more.
We have been happily married for seven and a half years. We are each
others best friend and have shared an incredible journey together,
creating many fun-filled happy memories and persevering through all of
life’s challenges. With every obstacles we have faced our love for, and
faith in one-another has only grown stronger. Sharing this love with Gavin
has been the easiest and most rewarding thing we have ever done and we are
overjoyed with the idea of having another baby to shower with our love.
Kim is a stay at home mom who loves nothing more than spending her time
with Gavin, living and experiencing life as he does. They spend their days
cuddling, playing, learning, and taking long walks exploring the world as
Gavin discovers it. Kim also enjoys working on her scrap-booking and
decorating our home. Johnnie is a project manager for a concrete paving
company. He works on some of the companies largest jobs and enjoys his
work very much but greatly anticipates the end of the day when he gets to
come home to his family. Johnnie is a gentle, loving daddy who adores
reading to, playing with and chasing around Gavin. He enjoys hunting,
fishing and just being in the great outdoors. Most of all Johnnie loves to
be with and care for his family. Gavin is a energetic, happy two and a
half year old who loves playing with his toys, being outside and keeping
his mom and dad on their toes. Gavin is very excited about becoming a big
brother and can’t wait to have a baby brother or sister to love and
snuggle with.
We spend a great deal of time doing things like going to the beach, the
park, the zoo and aquarium. At least once a year we enjoy a week away
camping with Johnnie‘s parent. Kim’s dad is a locomotive engineer and
every time we go to see them Papa takes Gavin to see the trains. We live
right by a river so we often take walks down to it and spend a good hour
tossing rocks and splashing in the water. We love the Holidays and all the
time we spend with our families. Thanksgiving is spent at Kim‘s parents
home, and Easter at Johnnies, where both of our families gather together
and celebrate the days. Christmas time is very fun, the entire month of
December is spent with our loved ones baking, looking at lights, making
popcorn balls, and going places like Seattle. We spend Christmas day at
our home surrounded by both of our families enjoying a wonderful dinner
and exchanging gifts.
We live in a wonderful little neighborhood out in the country. It’s calm
and quiet and just full of kids. At night we can sit outside and look at
the stars forever. We have a nice big back yard with a play area full of
toys and plenty of room to run and play. This past year Johnnie added on a
huge family room and now we have all sorts of room for toys, books and
just rolling around on the floor having fun. We have a black lab named
Jake who absolutely loves kids and two cats, Missy and Joey.
Both of our families live within twenty minutes of our home and we spend a
ton of time with all of them. They love being grandparents and can’t wait
to have one more Grand Baby to love and spoil. Johnnie has a brother who
is married and has a daughter (Kayla) who is seven and a son (Justin) who
is 3. Kim also has a brother and he attends college at WSU. Kayla, Justin
and Gavin are eagerly waiting for another cousin to play with. We truly
enjoy being around our friends and family celebrating the holidays, going
on vacations and just spending time together. We are all very close and
supportive of one-another. Just as we are, our families are very excited
about us adopting again and can’t wait for the day when we bring our
little one home.
We are Christians and strongly believe that God is always with us,
watching over and guiding us. We plan to pass on our faith to our children
and to help them know how precious life, and every gift in it, is. Our
main goal is to be great parents and a strong family. We want our children
to grow up with a strong sense of self worth and respect for themselves
and others. A few of the values that we live by are honesty, trust,
optimism, kindness, thoughtfulness, thankfulness and responsibility. We
will also be very open with them about everything, especially about their
lives and how we became a family.
Once again we want to commend you for your courage and love that you have
for your baby. There are no words to express the feeling we have for you.
Your baby will always know how much you love them. We would be happy to
send letters and pictures and have meeting with you if you wish. If you
just want to close this chapter in your life we would understand and
respect your choice. We want to thank you again for taking the time to
read our letter and considering us to be your baby’s family.
