GRAFIX :

For the first game on the N64, they were/are brilliant....

9

FX :

Although quite good, they got on my tits a little...

6

MUSIC :

Some good re-mixes of old Mario tunes, some completely new...

8

PLOT :

The usual "Bowser kidnaps Princess" yawn. No Oscars here...

2

CONTROLS :

Relatively simple, and moves are displayed all over the castle in case you're one of those people that doesn't read the instruction booklet...

8

GAMEPLAY :

The puzzles come in varying difficulty, and if you are stuck on one thing, there will nearly always be something else to do. But wait a minute, where the hell have the fire flowers gone. And the invincibility stars??? What a con... There is the addition of a punch/kick tho...

7

DIFFICULTY :

It's gonna be a little easy if you've played previous Mario games, otherwise it may be hard to find those last few stars...

6

LONGETIVITY :

Once you've finished the game, you may try again once or twice, but after 5 times collecting all the stars you'll be sick. Without controllable Yoshi/Luigi/any form of multiplayer, this game loses a lot in the replay stakes.

5

OVERALL :

A beautiful game, spoiled by the fact that there are no scores to build up (coins do not count), no multiplayer options, no ridable Yoshi, the Flower Power is destroyed and no invincibility.

Why the hell did I get rid of Super Mario World. That is what Mario is all about...
