You Are Listening To "Please Forgive Me"
Today you came and got me from the shelter.
I ask you to not raise your hand too quickly, because it will scare me and cause me to flatten my ears, lower my head, duck my tail and run the other way.
I also ask you not to raise your voice or move your foot too quickly towards me. This will scare me also.
You say that I have no reason to be scared, but you don't understand, that is all I expect of humans.
At the same time, I may appear to be eager to please you, but that is only my hopes of good treatment by you being expressed.
I promise that I will not use the bathroom in your house or bite you as long as you treat me good.
You say that you can tell that my previous owners didn't treat me right because of the way I act.
I wish I could tell you everything they did to me.
I am full of mats and need a bath, I hope you will take care of this for me. As you know I can not take care of that myself.
I am skin and bone because I have not had much to eat. I hope you will feed me good nutritious food to help me get to a good weight.
You give me treats, but I am not sure if I should eat them or not. I have never had this type of thing before.
There are toys to play with at your house, yet I am not sure if you will allow me to play with them. That is why when you throw them for me I chase them but don't bring them back to you.
You say you are going to foster me until you find the most loving home for me.
I can only hope that this loving home will treat me with all of the love in the world because that is all I have to offer them.
