Wanaka If Queenstown is comparable to Aspen, then Wanaka is like Crested Butte. Not as flashy and glitzy, a bit rough around the edges, but with more substance and definitely more liveable. Home to Treble Cone, the best skifield in the country, we got here right after a dump and had our three best days of the year. Some of the coolest terrain to be found, especially if you make the hike up to the summit. We had a great time staying with our British friends who we met many months before in Arthurs Pass, and who are now working on the mountain. Just a great little skitown full of cool people. Chris and Evan made it back here in mid-August for the Big Air competition and party which was a crazy, insane, all night event, and the biggest Wanaka weekend of the year. Sorry - we only have "scenery" shots here. Once again, the DigiCam and beer don't mix well. |
