Trippin w/ Matt and Sharon
When Matt and Sharon arrived on New Zealand, we took off on a crazy week through the top half of the South Island. We hit up Arthur's Pass, Lewis Pass, Hanmer Springs, the wild West Coast, and of course Nelson and Abel Tasman National Park. This trip took us through high mountains and sea level rainforests in the same day. We hiked, drove, explored, cooked, and drank lots of wine. It was very sad to see them go back to the states but we had a great time!

The inside of our cosy cabin. Matt and Evan preparing to go on a night hike and experience the local greenery.
Evan monkeying around with a cave and his headlamp.
Having a cuppa in Arthur's Pass, trying to warm up from the f***ing cold night. (freezing)
A nice lookout on the pass where we saw our first kea.
The majestic kea. The world's only alpine parrot. Reputed to be the smartest parrot in the world and a cheeky little bird. They have been known to eat the liver out of a live sheep by pecking through its back!!
The intrepid mountaineer stands at the base of his latest conquest, pondering life and wondering where he can get a hot latte.
