| Erecting the Temple |
| Tools and Setup On the altar is whatever tools are required for the ceremony, a bowl of water and a bowl of salt. Each direction has a candle as well as the altar candle, all are unlit. Incense (as appropriate to ritual). Libation dish if indoors and chalice of wine Ritual Sit in front of the altar and concentrate on raising your power (meditation, chanting etc.). Envision a protective shield around yourseld and expand this to include the circle. When energy is greatest release it and stand. Using either athame or your index finger of your dominate hand trace the line of the circle while walking deosil, starting in the east and returning to the altar. Light the altar candle and incense and from the altar candle light each directional candle saying: Here do I bring light & air to the east to illuminate our temple & bring it life Here do I bring light & fire to the south to illuminate our temple & bring it warmth Here do I bring light & water to the west to illuminate our temple & wash it clean Here do I bring light & earth to the north, to illuminate out temple & give it strength Return to the altar and replace the altar candle. Place the tip of your index finger in the salt and say: Salt is life. Let this salt be pure and let it purify my life as I use it in this rite, dedicated to my Lord and Lady Take three pinches of salt & drop them one by one into the water. Stir the water with your finger and say: Let this sacred salt drive out any impurities in this water that together they may be used in the service of my dieties Take the bowl of water and starting i the east sprinkle the line of the circle and on returning to the altar take the incense and with the smoke trace the line of the circle deosil saying: The sacred circle is about me and I am here of my own free will, in peace and love I invite the Gods to witness this rite, which I hold with their love and in their honour Take the chalice in your dominate hand and spill a little on the ground (or into libation dish) and say: To the Lord and Lady Guard me and guide me within this circle and without In all things in life, so mote it be Drink a little wine and replace the chalice and say: The temple is now erect, I shall not leave it but with good reason So mote it be Now continue of with the ritual or working majick Other rituals: |
