Just recently I decided I needed to play with radiosity and this stapler scene I built when I was bored one weekend just seemed to be a good subject! I used an HDRI image as the light source (no LW lights are used in this image) and activated radiosity.
It uses very low radiosity settings (3x9 Rays per evaluation,0 tolerance) which in most cases would produce blotchy artifacts, however there is 9 pass antialiasing (no adaptive subsampling) and I used the Shading Noise Reduction option.
It was interesting that I had to also drop the diffuse values on the stapler surface to get it to look not washed out when using radiosity compared to normal LW lighting... While its still not perfect, it was fun to do!
