DATE:
Wednesday, 7th March 2001
5:30 to 8:30pm.

WHAT HAPPENED:
The usual munchies were provided, and quite a few new people came - With the new year starting, many were students keen to check out what was going on...

The first hour or so, I played a CD full of animations and video I'd collected over the last few months... At the end of which Karl Butler presented us with his latest animation, of which I must say was quite impressive - Taking around 200 hours in total to build, animate and render, the animation of a Frog impersonating Winston Churchill went down well with the punters!

That was followed by a quick overview of Fixed Front Projection Mapping (The tutorial can be read here ). After that I briefly showed how some interesting effects could be achieved for video using Hypervoxels and normal front projection mapping, afterwhich someone asked a question about collecting particles inside a container and we went off and started to play with the cool ParticleFX of Lightwave 6.5!

All in all, it was a nice evening. A chance for people to meet, to see what AUT's new lab looked like and check out some new animations, maybe learn a little.

Cheers, and see you at the next meeting in a month or so!
