Club History

History Bulletin:

The Kiwanis Club of the Tonawanda's was founded in 1920 and is a thriving organization of service and community minded individuals who support children and young adults in the twin cities of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda. The organization views its role within its communities with a great deal of foresight. Key aspects of its focus are:

Evaluating both children's issues and community needs on an on-going basis.

Conducting Service projects to respond to those identified needs.

Maintaining an active membership roster of professional business people who have both the desire and ability to serve their community.

Every dollar raised from outside funding, whether it be from local fund raising projects, donations or grants goes right back into the community. Over the years, the organization has supported numerous community projects including:

Kiwanis funds the cost of the alarms while the fire departments do the installation. To date, over 500 alarms have been installed.

A former member of the club left a sizable grant to the organization, most of which was used tin 1998 to fund the construction of a summer day camp building for the Boys and Girls Club of the Tonawanda's.
