A Kiwanian Christmas
Santa (Marshall) and helping elves
Rose and Beverly
‘Twas
a few nights before Christmas and all through the house everyone was working even a mouse. The gifts had been gathered to the back of our meeting place. The Kiwanians showed up to set quite a pace. Jeanna brought all the wrapping and set them out on the table. Some members brought their wives because they knew they were able. Music played in the background filled the room with cheer. This was because we all knew that Santa was near. Julia Healthcare Center needed their gifts wrapped and the Mountain View Kiwanians came through. The time was now and we knew it too.The scissors and paper started a flyin’ and soon we were done without even tryin. Hugo and Ralph loaded their sleighs with gifts and took them to the center. All of us there, were waiting for that someone special to enter. The patients finished eating none too soon, next they were transported to a colorfully decorated room. And with a Ho Ho Ho and a jingle of some bells, Santa was there. With each of the patients now cheerful as they each sat in their wheel chair. A group of Kiwanians gathered to help past out gifts and sing a song. But this wasn’t enough because it didn’t take that long. So on went Santa to visit each room, leaving Beverly saying a poem and the piano that was playing a Christmas tune. George, Dorothy, Selma wake up Santa knew you couldn’t leave your bed; I brought you the sweatsuit that you asked for in red. Christmas had come to the convalescent home, and our work was done. We had helped others enjoy Christmas while we had some fun.
The Mountain View Kiwanian were able to supply 92 gifts with two weeks notice this year for Julia Healthcare Center. Thanks to all that donate gifts and money to fund the project.
