Hopping from one leg of w-shape of Cassiopeia consists stars 37(Ruchbah) and 45 Stars 45-->37-->point to 34, NGC 457 locates close to star 34. Goto eyepiece, make final adjustment. It is actually look like an owl, two bright stars as eyes, many stars form the body and symmetrically wings. (my sketch is up side down, forgot to add direction)
