Started from Albireo hop to stars 3, 8 & 6-->10, 12 & 13-->enter to Aquila constellation, hop to stars 12, 8, 7 & 9. M71 locates between star 9 & 12 but more closer to star 9. Star 8 & 7 help to mark the position of star 9, as they form as a triangle. Not quite difficult to lock M71 in FOV of eyepiece, but I had to wait until it close to zenith point to confirm its position. M71 appeared as very faint, small, round, image didn't stable depend on seeing condition. I used REDSHIFT III to compare the star field, it was OK. Refer to REDSHIFT, the bright star in west direction is "9SGE", mag6.24, distance 14,180 ly, super giant class, luminosity 51,000 times of the Sun. Home
