Start hopping form Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, hop to stars 8,6 & 7 ,hop to stars 19, 15 & 17. Between group of stars 8,6,7 and 19,15,17; it have a star 12 (mag6), M41 locates close to star 12 and could be observed via finder scope like a faint star. At eyepiece, M41 appeared as large cluster.
