Kitty Resort, Inc. is run by Betty Phillips and Nick Trostl on the 39 acre Rolling Meadows Ranch in Istachatta, Florida. Betty first volunteered to be a foster mom for the humane society, and took in four kittens.  It was fun and rewarding, until she gave them back.  She missed her little orphans and just didn't like the feeling of separation after having bonded with them.  After all, she was their mom, and nobody could give those kittens the love and attention that she could.  At the time, she noted that there was a number of cats coming to the Society that were from homes where elderly people were living.  Either these folks were going into nursing homes, or simply, were just too incapacitated to take care of their charges.  Betty decided to dedicate herself to taking care of the feline pets that the elderly were unable to attend to.  Fast forward a few years and over 40 cats later.  Betty and Nick both have circus backgrounds, and all these playful animals, she mused, could put on quite a show if someone spent a lot of time working with them.  Well, as you might imagine, training all these cats would be quite a task.  Betty is of the philosophy that no animal should be mistreated -- their "work" must be fun!  So any animal appearing in the act is there because they want to be there.  They are given treats, but no animal is deprived of a meal for a bad performance.  When you see the act, all her animals are well fed!  The cats that do not perform are as well taken care of as the performers.  She talked Nick into converting the storage building next to the main home into a "Cat Condo".  There is a performance arena attached to the north end of the building, and an indoor (air conditioned) area that is their home.  There are different sections to this building, in that some cats live wonderfully well together, and those that tend to be aggressive live in separated areas.  As the feline population grows at Kitty Resort, Inc., more rooms are being added.  A mobile, air conditioned home has been converted into a Cat Condo for new adoptees, also with sections.  Some cats are being trained as understudies for the Show, others are just living off the fat of the land!  Nick has also built a large, portable arena where the Show will be performed.  Some cats have the run of Betty's home (although she likes to discourage that!), and still others love the outdoors and roam the property.  All her cats are neutered, and receive veterinary care. Kitty Resort, Inc. will always be a work in progress, and as you can imagine the feeding and health care of all her charges is quite expensive.   If you would like to assist just click on the "How You May Help" link for the address where you may send your tax deductable donations.  We also have included a "Wish List" in case you have an item no longer needed and could be utilized by Kitty Resort, Inc.
