The Switch-its are the most powerful of the lower demons. Some elders of the higher races claim that the switch-it is indeed a higher demon, but it is still only speculation. The true name of the Switch-its have been erased with the waves of time or forgotten to the Switch-it race. Switch-its are solitary creatures, and omnivorous as most of the mortal society. They are the mischievous demon group, playing into both the darkness and the light of the world. Most switch-its, though immortal by nature rarely live past a hundred years.
The race of the Switch-it has the uncanny ability of morphing their body into anything animate or inanimate at will. They cane be chairs, mirrors, humans, elves, even another switch-it. They often die in their many other forms as they are not seen for the switch-it the really are. It is not uncommon for a horse to accidentally eat a blade of grass that is actually a switch-it. Unlike the other lower demons, the switch-it can possess two unique abilities. Aside from their obvious morphing capabilities, a large percentage of the switch-its also possess an ear to the gods and ancient races. They are the truest seers of the world. This causes the switch-it population not only to possess knowledges otherwise forbidden to the other races but causes a severe instability to function in the true world. If a switch-it is not driven mad within the first year of its existence from this gift, then it has probably been killed before then.
The true form of the switch-it is monstrous at the kindest. Their faces are flat with their large frog like eyes planted on either side of their head. Their heads are triangular in appearance, and their bodies are thin and wiry. Their flesh is yellow and incredibly thin, allowing an onlooker to see veins and muscular structure of the switch-it. Switch-its never grow smaller than 65, and rarely exceed higher than 9 feet.
Switch-its insanity comes in three forms. They can be a childish entity, babbling nonsense to whoever would listen and constantly dependant upon someone or something else. There is also the malicious entity, though fragile and simple-minded, bent on cause friction and turmoil in any creatures life. And lastly there is the selective insanity. This case happens to the younger switch-its as they slowly drift into one of the other two groups. At this early stage they have moments of perfect clarity and sanity, but certain images or people will send them into a fit of destruction or a panic. Switch-its do not o well in extreme colds and are mostly found within the companion of a saner, master or companion.
