The Polinri

The Polinri are the ghosts of the demon race. Second to the Switch-it, they hold the greatest power to the higher demons. Polinri have no true form, existing only on an illusionary level. They are the leeches of the mind. Most of the nightmares are said to have hatched from a Polinris playtime. They are masters of illusion and harbingers of insanity. Both ageless and lifeless, Polinri can not be killed only banished to their poltergeist form.

Polinri need a host to take form in the true world. Hosts can only be taken over if the body is dead, or if the mind is under deep submission via sleep or unconsciousness. If a host becomes awake or aware of the demons presence, it is up to the will of the host to evict the Polinri from their body, though doing so will always leave scars on the psyche or phantom nightmares for the rest of the hosts existence.

To banish a Polinri, they can either be forced out by an "awake" host, magickally pulled out by a high ranking mage, or the Polinri can willingly leave the body. Magickally removing a Polinri will not leave nightmares, but it usually results in the mage taking on the Polinri within themselves. The only other way to rid the world of a Polinri is to seal it within the hosts souls, thus killing it from ever breaking out into the world again. To seal a Polinri into ones self not only means the hosts takes on a part of the demon, but also has demonic scars upon the psyche. The host retains a sense of the Polinris self and all its memories. Sealing is a dangerous for all hosts as it can lead to possible insanity or self destruction of both the Polinri and the host.

Though Polinri have no true gender, they do tend to pick same gender hosts. Most lower demons, excluding the switch-it, both lower and higher fae, both lower and higher men, and lower dragons are potential hosts to the Polinri. Of all the races, the dragons tend to be the least effected by scarring of the Polinri, and thus are not as frequented as the other races, though there have been occasions when a Polinri has taking a lower dragon as a host.

Polinri can only create illusion in all their forms. And as it is only illusion, no matter how real it may seem the Polinri can not cause harm. Only through using the body of the host can the Polinri hurt or kill anything. They feed off of the host they are stored within, making it immortal unless the host is dead. Polinri can not alter the ways of death, and so most dead hosts are only temporary until they find a living one. A dead host, as any other dead thing will decay and rot in time. Though for a living host their life line is fused to the Polinri immortal one, thus granting the host an immortality of servitude to the Polinri.
