The Human race gets lumped into two major categories, the ones of lower stations and the ones of higher stations. In this day and age both are equally valuable, their system of rank lumps them in one of the two.
Plainers are men of the fields and and valleys. They often are the harvesters o a trelfs' crops and aides in the hand work to maintain what is left of plant life. mountainers are people of rock and iron. These tend to be your blacksmiths and miners. They are also the men who know how to build articles and establisments of stone and wood. Oceanics are the people of the seas. They usually stick to ships for most their life or keep their life close to the shore lines. They are fishermen, pirates, and water transportation for the world. sky riders are people of the air. They are in league with the lower dragons, using the animals as air transportation, though this method is usually left to the elves, demons, and higher born humans. Priests are the highest of the lower men. They maintain what little of religion is left, depending on the God/dess they live for, and in some smaller villages they are the only working form of protection or government left.
In the Higher half of humans are the Wizards and Mages. Mages deal with elemental magick such as manipulation of the flame and water. The downside to this is that humans are not borne magickal cratures, so their mastery of the natural magick is always forced upon nature in som way. higher spells that humans master such as growing of plants, recharting of natural water systems and the like always have side effects, usually disasterous for a nearby area of the land, if not a side effect onto themselves. But using natural magick (correctly) prolongs a mage's life up to a hundred extra years. The oldest mage in existance is 198 years old. Wizards deal with the darker magicks of the demons and dragons, and almost always live short lives. A wizard usually does not live over 35 years. Wiazrds magicks may be more powerful than a mages magicks, but usually at that degree of difficulty, the magick claims the life of the wizard. Swordsmen and the noble also fit into this branch, being the only remaining forms of protection and rule the humans have, though they are rare. Most larger cities are run by a demon or higher fae.
