This is the pattern for the Hidden Picture Quilt. It is shown in black and white to reduce confusion that might be caused by the colors, and to allow the user to pick the colors and patterns that they might like. Any combination of colors and/or patterned fabric can be used. There are no hard and fast rules. Pick the colors you like.

The Stars in this quilt are cut from a floral fabric in such a way that each star makes a picture of it's own. With these stars you will have to cut each piece individually, laying the pattern on the floral fabric so that each of the eight star sections is identical. When these are assembled, they will each make a unique picture.
You will also need strips for the sashing between the stars, and triangles for the edges to make the rectangle straight..

When you have all the squares made with the pictures, and the
strips cut for the sashing, the assembly is shown at the right. Squares are
set "on point". I used a plain border, but you could also use a border of
the floral print the hidden pictures came from. I used a feather heart quilting
pattern for the edges, and stretched it out to be a full side pattern, with
the feather links between the hearts.
I then
used the Old Faithful Diagonal stitch..which is merely straight lines also set
on point instead of setting on the flat of one side of the square. This quilt
was completely assembled and quilted by machine, a small home machine, not a
large quilting model. I don't recommend that method for the simple reason that
it is too hard to squeeze all the fabric under the throat of the machine in some
spots. It was a fun experiment though, and there is always something to learn.
