. . . . Until The Paper Work Is Done

Spring of '98

Taz (Tazzy Poop for short), my VERY long-haired Persian cat does not always finish his job before exiting the litter box. Sort of like claiming a job is complete without doing the paperwork.  Anyway, on this particular morning we endured just such an incident.

Now, you have to realize that when this happened, my day started at approximately 4:40 a.m. (after hitting snooze alarm once). Taz had already attempted his morning litter box routine and was not 100% successful. That is, when he came in to see why I was still in bed after the alarm had gone off, I smelled him before he got to my bed (and I had a cold)!

No problem. We've dealt with this before. Just hold his little hiney under the tub faucet as nice warm water washes away his troubles. On this particular day, he was not at all pleased with the routine. After the scrubbing, he decided to "hide" in the litter box -- just in case I wanted to wash him again. His litter box contains clumping clay litter. The clay turned to instant cement as soon as his wet drippy fur touched the stuff. That REALLY startled him. He jumped out and started running around the house shaking little cement clumps all over the place -- walls, carpet, washer, dryer, etc., etc.

Now I have a highly P****d cat with cement stuck to his fur. Only one way to fix that -- another bath! This time it was more than his backside that needed washing. In all his running about he even managed to fling some of that cement onto his face. His whiskers were covered with little clay clumps!

Cat thoroughly cleaned, again, by 5:45. I didn't get breakfast or have time to make a lunch. Did manage to get somewhat dressed and to work on time. By the time I got there (6:30 a.m.), I was exhausted and ready for a break!

And how was your day?
