Kristen grew up in a small town near the coast of Massachusetts where her thirst for knowldege in science first started to bloom. Both her parents were scientists, her father studied creatures of the sea and her mother studied rocks. Kristen's interest had always been towards plants and other creatures. Her parrents encouraged this throughout her childhood and she grew up loving to learn. Biology and Physical sciences were always easiest for her, chemestry was a challenge, but something she learned none the less. Often she would enjoy seeing what chemicals would explode when they interacted with each other, though her interest in explosions was minor.
When Kristen was a teenager she made her main goal to join starfleet as one of their science officers. Since major space exploration was just beginning and the finding of new creatures was happening frequently, she found she wanted to explore space and it's anomolies... and the beings who thrived in it and made their way and their life among the stars. She finds it most relaxing when she is given shore leave time to study the plants of the planet she's on and her room has become virtualy a greenhouse.
