| Stop #1: Chutes Provincial Park, Massey, Ontario Our first stop. Stayed one night. The rangers were driving around with a live bear trap, because a bear had just been spotted. Luckily we did not see it!! Stop #2: Neys Provincial Park, Terrance Bay, Ontario On Lake Superior. Stayed one night. The lake was VERY cold. Beautiful scenery. Stop #3: Blue Lake Provincial Park, Dryden, Ontario Nice playgrounds for the kids. Stayed one night. Not your typical provincial park campground as it seemed more like a trailer park. Stop #4: Riding Mountain National Park, Wasagaming Campground, Wasagaming, Manitoba Stop #5: Gordon Howe Tourist Campsite, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan A campground right in the middle of the city. When we were there, Saskatoon was having a grasshopper infestation. But there were not that many grasshoppers here. Showers only had curtains for privacy. Stop #6: Glowing Embers Travel Centre and RV Park, Edmonton, Alberta Smallest campsites ever!! Just enough room for the trailer, awning, and the truck on the site. No fire rings (no space)!! Really close to the West Edmonton Mall, so little time was spent at the campground. Stop #7: Jasper National Park, Whistlers Campground, Jasper, Alberta Stop #8: Herald Provincial Park, Tappen, BC No hookups available. Stayed in a very open sunny site. The road to the campground was interesting (twisty and hilly). The park has one trail that has waterfalls at the very end. Spectacular! Stop #9: Parkcanada Recreational Vehicle Inn, Delta, BC Very close to the ferry. Used as a base to check out Vancouver Island. Stop #10: Canyon Hot Springs Resort, Revelstoke, BC Right in the mountains and next to a train track. The first time we heard it, we thought something awful was happening (earthquake? avalanche?). Only stayed one night. The Hot Springs cost extra. Stop #11: Dinosaur Provincial Park, Brooks, Alberta Awesome!! We had no expectations about this place. It was in the middle of nowhere, canyons, hot, gorgeous. We saw dinosaur remains, scorpions and deer. In the night we heard the howling of coyotes. Stop #12: Travelodge, Regina, Saskatchewan After a day of driving in the rain, a little respite from camping. Stop #13: Traveller's RV Resort Inc and Campground, Winnipeg, Manitoba After the sun set, the mosquitos were thick!! When we were there, the pool was disgusting. There is a lot to do in Winnipeg, the Coin Museum (free!!) and the Forks was what we did. Stop #14: AmericInns, Duluth/Proctor,Minnesota As we drove through North Dakota, you could see this awful storm cloud to the east. Eventually we hit it, and of course this was the only day the roof vent wasn't closed. The storm had hail in it. We had to pull off the road at one point the visibility was so bad. A hotel was required!! Stop #15: Brimley State Park, Brimley, Michigan From the beach, you could see the great lake shippers going in and out of Sault Ste. Marie. The water was was warm enougn to swim in, unusual for Lake Superior! |
