If you have cats, especially black cats, KEEP THEM INSIDE and KEEP THEM SAFE this time of year. Although this is supposed to be a night of fun, some cruel people are out there that may try to harm your pets. Keep them sheltered and protected.

When carving your jack-o-lantern, don't throw away those pumpkin seeds! Roast them for a tasty snack (especially for when you have a salty craving after eating all of that candy!) Scrape all of the pumpkin goo off, then soak in salty water. First, they must be
dried. This can be done by spreading them on a cookie sheet, and placing in an oven (on warm setting) for 3-4 hours, stirring frequently. To roast, toss with salt and oil (1 tsp oil for 1 cup seeds), and place in preheated 250 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes. (Dad LOVES these).

Here is a really cute and easy project to do with the kids. Dip Nutter Butter cookies (they are peanut shaped) in melted white chocolate. Lay out on wax paper to dry. While still wet, place two mini chocolate chips for eyes. These little "ghosts" are adorable.
