Creampuff is a solid white shorthair with green eyes. He is fifteen years old. He came out of the weeds the same day that Scooter came home with me. He was close to the same age, but looked just a little bit younger. I thought that Scooter had gotten into the weeds because I couldn't find him (come to find out, he was up under the car). I was lookig for him and heard a cat in the weeds. Mom and Dad came out to look, and Mom pulled out Creampuff! He was very scared, and ran back into the weeds. We started leaving food out at the edge of the yard and the weeds for him. I gradually moved the bowl closer and closer into the yard toward the house. He began staying under the deck, and I would stay outside and talk to him every day. He got closer and closer until he finally let me touch him. Our bond grew, and he became the "lap kitty" that he is now. He and Scooter became closer, and grew up together like brothers. Like Scooter, he was outside for 9 years, and now is inside with me.
Many aspects of Puffer's personality reflect upon his days as a stray. Every time I walk near the kitchen, he runs to the food bowl, wanting me to put more in it, even though it is full. If Scooter begins walking toward the food bowls, Creampuff runs quickly to stand between Scooter and the bowls. I have to hold Puff so that Scooter can eat. Puffers is also very skittish, espeically around company. His favorite spots are under the bed or in my lap. He also likes to sleep in the bed with Scooter and me at night. He always sleeps at the corner of the foot of the bed.
I am very lucky to have my little Puffers, and I am so grateful that we found him when we did. I know that both of our lives would have been so different without each other. I am glad that I have been able to provide a good home for him, and I wish with all my heart that every other stray in this world could be so lucky. |
