| Much of today's media, if not all of it, is based on the teenage society.Teenage society has been divided into 3 major groups including the 'popular' people, the 'gothic' people, and the 'geeky' people. Once a person has entered one of these groups it is hard to leave or "change one's stars", if you will. Now what do today's youth have to do with the press? In short, everything. It is because of the teenage social groups that certain musicians and certain films make more money than do others. This is because the 'popular' people hold the majority of the "power" in the economy. I mean if you see two teens walking down the street dressed all in black versus two teens walking down the street in khakis and polo shirts who do you think people would stop to say 'hi' to? Thus proving that the 'popular' people are more "popular" because of the way they dress and their attitude. Well I'm sorry America but not everyone has to dress in Abercrombie and Fitch to signify that they, too, are important. |
