Instruction sheet for Mission HTML project
You are going to create a web site for one of CaliforniaŐs 21 missions. Your web site will have a home page which connects to four other pages. These pages will describe the missionŐs history, location, architecture, and vital statistics. It is up to you to provide the information and pictures to complete the web site.
These files appear as history.html, location.html, architecture.html, stats.html, and home.html. The are found in the HTML template folder. Text is going to be removed and replaced in these files to make them unique to your mission. Each of these files has a worksheet that must be completed be for the file is changed.
These are general instructions for all files.
Before an HTML text file can be changed, a worksheet for that file must be completed. This will help you have the information handy when changing the file
Your teacher will show you how to fill out the first couple worksheets and help with the others if you need help.
Before opening up any HTML file, change the name of the template file by adding the mission rank to the front of the file name. For example, if you are reporting on the mission in San Diego, home.html file would become 1home.html. This is because the San Diego mission was the first mission founded. This will make this file unique from all the others. You will do this for all HTML files you change. What is your mission rank? Write it here:
After you open the file, notice it is practically identical to your worksheet. You are now going to actually replace the large bold text >Example< with the information you wrote on your work sheet. Type the information in between the tags, or arrows > place between arrows<. When you are complete delete the text. you crossed out on your worksheet. The original text will serve as your guide back to where you were, should you get lost. If you delete the original text first you might get lost and be unable to find your way. Among the things you will need to do, depending on the file, are:
1. Place the name of the mission
2. Change the graphics file name
3. Place paragraphs
4. Add mission rank to reflect changed file names
5. Place location in email with mission location
6. Place your name
Remember, use your worksheet to help guide you through the file. Replace the large bold text with the information you have written
When you finished with a text file, drag onto the Netscape Navigator icon in order to view it as a web page.
