Sunset City lies on a beautiful harbor on the western coast of the United States. Originally discovered by Sir Francis Drake, the city has a rich history, and is widely considered to be one of the most artistic cities of the country. Most places can be reached by the many cable car lines that crisscross the city.
The Financial District: The business heart of the city, the Financial District lies between the Italian Quarter and the Old Spanish Quarter. Most of the major businesses of the city are headquartered here, along with the largest department stores and most expensive shops. LexCorp West is located in the center of the Financial District. City Hall and the Federal and State court houses lies on the Western edge of the Financial District.
The Italian Quarter: Home of some of the best restaurants in the city, and filled with dozens of small parks and squares that provide charming places to relax after a day of shopping and sightseeing. Saint Francis' Cathedral dominates the skyline of this area of the city.
The Old Spanish Quarter: The oldest part of the city, centered around the Old Mission.
The Wharfside: These days it is less a working port than a mixture of trendy shops and yacht clubs.
Sunset Port: One of the major ports of the West Coast, hundreds of ships of all sizes load and unload every day.
Chinatown: A confusing warren of tiny streets and alleys, no one but residents can find their way through this section of town without becoming lost. The residents are suspicious of outsiders, and tend to try to solve their problems themselves, rather than relying on outside help.
Sunset Park: A huge park in the Western section of the city, it is a favorite spot for picnics, walks through the many flower gardens, and boating on lovely Swan Lake.
Parkside North: A middle to upper class neighborhood north of Sunset Park.
Parkside South: A middle class neighborhood south of Sunset Park. Both Sunset City Univeristy and the Zoo are located in this neighborhood.
Sunset University: A highly respected institution of higher learning, its nuclear physics and experimental medicine departments are among the best in the country.
Baghdad Street: Centered around the street it is named for, this artistic neighborhood is filled with eclectic little shops, tea and coffee houses, and small experimental theaters.
Devils Point: The rough section of Sunset City. South of the Port, it is made up of hard-working people struggling to get by, low-class con artists, sneak thiefs, houdlums, and bums. Recently the two most powerful street gangs, the Skulz and Bulz, teamed up to become a single group, calling themselves the Wulvz.
Presidium Army Base: Built on the site of a 19th century fort that guarded the harbor, Presidium remains one of the most important military bases on the West Coast.
Stevenson Naval Station: A major base during the Second World War. It is not quite as vital any longer, but it still remains an important shipyard and naval base.
Gateway Bridge: This internationally famous landmark connects Sunset City with the Redwood Headlands.
Diomedus Penitentiary: Built on an island in Sunset Bay, this maximum security facility has recently been upgraded to an Ultra-Security detention facility, for the incarceration of metahuman felons.
Sunset International Airport: This major international airport lies to the south of Sunset City.
Devil's Mountain: A large mountain to the east of Sunset City, with a long history of ominous legends and tragic accidents.
