Disclaimer: My, I wonder how all of you could think that I, simple Puff, own Witch Hunter Robin. It’s such a shame the state our education system has fallen into.

Kitsune: The little brat is trying to say that she doesn’t own Witch Hunter Robin, but even I don’t know what the second half is about.

Puff: Stupid fox, I was trying to get the point across that if the schools were better, people would really understand the fact that I don’t own WHR. In fact, the lawyers, who should be really smart, are the ones I have to put the disclaimers for. >_< Stupid lawyers, making me say stuff that hurts.

Background noise: *ding*

Puff and Kitsune: *look at the source of the noise*

Puff: That could be one of two things. Either the popcorn is done or Amon is.

Kitsune: If it is Amon, will he look the same?

Puff: Oh, yes, of course. There may some small wounds that need to be attended to by hand, a bit of residual electric shock, and we may have to peel off a bit of this weird polymer foam substance from his skin. I don’t know quite what it is yet, and I can’t get rid of it no matter how much I tinker with the machine.

Kitsune: *facial twitching* You don’t know what it is?

Puff: No, not really. It’s a nice lavender shade, though once I got it to turn blue.

Kitsune: It could be poisonous!

Puff: I don’t think it would be poisonous. Maybe you could get a case of amnesia or fry a few brain cells if exposed to it for too long. So toxic, no; mind-numbing, perhaps.

Kitsune: But you’re not sure? *worried*

Puff: When have I ever been completely sure about any by-product that my inventions produce?

Kitsune: *eyes widen* Amon!!! *runs off*

Puff: This is fun! It was the popcorn! *Follows Kitsune, laughing*

The Joys of Parenthood

Chapter Sixteen: Time to Spare?

            “Yes, I’ll kill every last one of you,” Amon growled, his fists shaking unnoticeably from the anger that was pouring from his body. A thin stream of blood trickled on to the shiny tiles, oozing from his palms where his fingernails tore the flesh. Sela’s eyes were wide with fear, but she soon forced her emotions into check and giggled delicately.

            “Amon, you forget I control time,” Sela teased half-heartedly, more worried about the fact Amon’s gun was loaded with Orbo, “And time is something you need desperately right now.” She gestured towards Javan, causing both Robin and Amon to turn slightly so they could catch a glimpse of the dark-haired child.

            “Explain,” Amon ordered sharply after looking at his daughter, his charcoal eyes brimming with hatred and disgust for his opponent. Sela sighed dramatically, throwing her arm to her forehead and sauntering away like a cat around a chained dog. She finger-combed her black tresses for a moment, running her razor-blade sharp nails along her skin and causing crimson liquid to streak her face.

            “I don’t have to explain myself to my next kill,” Sela snapped as her mind suddenly returned to the battle at hand, “It would be a waste of time for me to tell you something that wouldn’t even matter in a few minutes, since you’ll just be a corpse.” She laughed, her head thrown back in mirth.

            “I would suggest you confess all, since you’ll be the one who’s dead body will be rotting,” Amon amended, his deep voice resonating around the eerily cold room.

            “Such big words for someone who already has one foot in the grave,” Sela said coldly, throwing an Orbo bullet up in the air and catching in it in her palm. Amon’s eyes narrowed as he spotted the dull green liquid-filled capsule. His eyes darted over to Robin, whose face was contorted in fear and frozen in a timeless state.

            “It was quite amusing to see Robin-chan’s face as I plucked the Orbo capsule from her pocket and she dropped into a malformed hole in the space time continuum. Really, it’s for her own protection; we’ve been monitoring the STN-J for quite some time now and it’s been decided that she would risk her own life to save you, so I had to eliminate the chance she might get hurt,” Sela explained as sweetly as possible, noticing the increase in Amon’s anger, “Now we can do battle without either of them getting injured. Well, unless I don’t kill you with in my time limit.”

            “Time limit?” Amon questioned, quite intrigued by the fact the witch may have to ‘shut down’ her powers after a set amount of time. Perhaps, just maybe, he wouldn’t have to risk everything to kill her.

            “Don’t sound so happy about it; my time limit is bad for both of us. You see, after a while, I have to rest my powers but when that happens the magic just turns off and anyone trapped within my field is killed instantly. It’s a rather horrid way to die, to awaken for a brief moment of excruciating pain before you spiral into a black abyss of pure timelessness that one’s soul cannot escape,” Sela cooed, sounding pleased at the way her time limit killed her victims.

            “How long?” Amon questioned, desperately trying to formulate a plan in his head while he had her distracted momentarily. Sela clucked her tongue and shook her finger disapprovingly.

            “That’s for me to know and for you to find out,” she snapped, blue-green eyes shining with a sudden burst of power, “I’m going to kill you now, so prepare yourself.” Sela launched herself forward, fingernails outstretched like ten daggers poised for the kill. A blur passed in front of Amon, barely giving him enough time to sidestep and dodge the main brunt of the attack.

            “I’m surprised you had time enough to see me. You have skills,” Sela congratulated before her voice turned deadly serious once again, “Too bad your finely honed skills won’t be enough to see me this time!” With that said, the woman flickered out of sight. Amon spun around, his head twisting in every direction so he could try and spot even the faintest distortion in the scenery.

            A faint laugh resonated around the silent room, bouncing from one corner to the next. Suddenly, blood spurted from the side of Amon’s neck. The ruby liquid splattered on the tiles, collecting with the half dried blood that had oozed from his palms earlier. The hunter placed a hand over the shallow wounds, feeling the gashes from Sela’s claw-like nails.

            “Not half bad. That should have done you in, but I suppose you sensed me at the last moment and you moved,” Sela reasoned warmly, flicking the blood off of her fingers as she stood in front of her prey, “Now Amon, stay still. It will hurt less and I don’t want to damage either of the girls you so desperately desire to protect. We simply mustn’t get any of your blood on them.”

            “I’d watch your mouth; I’m already angry,” Amon warned, his finger twitching on the trigger of his gun. Sela smiled coldly before she darted forward again, unfurling her fingers in a single fluid motion as she prepared to remove Amon’s head from his neck. The hunter stood perfectly still, waiting patiently for the precise moment when she would have to slow down to slash at him.

            Amon back stepped the second Sela’s shadow flashed in the corner of his eye. He raised his Orbo gun, pulling the trigger back sharply. Sela screamed as she collapsed onto the tiles, clutching at her wounded abdomen. A glowing green patch intermingled with the trace amounts of blood that began to ooze from the surface wound.

            “That was good, Amon, but it would have been better if you had better aim. That bullet was way off; I’m surprised it even hit me at all,” Sela said off-handedly as she scrambled to get to her feet and disappeared before Amon had the chance to shoot her again.

            The hunter slipped his gun back into its holster, knowing quite well he couldn’t pull the same trick on her again. He balled his hands into fists, hoping that he would be able to render her unconscious before her time limit rolled around and the field expired.

            “You know, Amon, Robin really trusts you,” Sela whispered into his ear, her hands curling around his neck from behind, “She called out for you as she slowed, cried out your name like a prayer. She clung to the hope that you would rescue her like a drowning person clings to a life preserver. The last word that danced on her lips was your name, and now you’re going to die. You’ll never save her and the last time she’ll see you, you’ll be dead in your own pool of blood. What a nice way to end it all.” She laughed coldly, her fingernails digging into Amon’s neck.

            “I said I was going to kill you all and I never break a promise. I’m not going to die now,” Amon growled, reaching up and prying Sela’s hands off of his neck. He turned around to face her, both of her wrists held firmly in an iron grip. The woman tried to pull away from him, yanking on her hands desperately.

            “Even if you manage to kill me, which I doubt that you’ll be able to, you’ll still have to deal with my sisters,” Sela warned, “I will kill you, Amon, even if it costs me my life. I need to prove myself to the boss.”

            “I will not die at the hands of some dirty wench,” Amon continued, closing his hand even tighter on Sela’s wrists.

            “I still have one ace up my sleeve, Amon. Remember, all I have to do is pass a bit of time until the limit rolls around. Then, my powers shut off and every single person with in my field dies an agonizing death,” Sela cautioned, catching the hunter off guard, “You still want to kill me?”

            “Oh, yes, I still want to kill you. I’ll just have to kill you now,” Amon stated, casting fear into Sela’s eyes. She began struggling even more fiercely, tossing herself around like a rag doll. Amon fought to keep his hold on her wrists until he could remove his Orbo gun from its holster and finish her off. A spray of glowing green liquid hit Amon in the face, momentarily blinding him.

            “My, my. It seems your pretty little necklace broke,” Sela crooned from the other side of the room, having freed herself when Amon was caught off guard. The ebony-haired hunter cast his obsidian eyes towards his shattered Orbo pendant, the shards of glass dripping with the mysterious liquid.

            “By the look on your face, I’d say that odd little piece of jewelry was important to you,” Sela mused, running a hand through her raven hair nonchalantly as she batted her eyelashes innocently, “Or is it the fact that was the only thing keeping me from freezing you in time?”

Author’s Note: Hey, separating it worked last time! Hullo all, I’d like to wish you a very happy and safe Fourth. Don’t blow your head off with fireworks; I need your reviews. Thank you all for your support. I truly would appreciate it if we could keep that level of reviews up like that, because it makes it easier to write. {smiles} I mean, think about the fic. So please, review. Now, can anyone tell me anything about Nagira? I need some help with that character. {sigh} Thank you for reading this.

To the Reviewers:

Wake-Robin: Thank you, I’m glad you liked my chappie.

Dragon’s Lair: Now that kind of information might ruin the plot ya know, so I’ll just say this: It’s a maybe, a perhaps. Does that help? {smiles widely}

Haruya: This sick-minded freak! Right here! Look at me! I can’t capture Robin yet, I’ve got so many very nice battles planned all out. {laughs}

Kim: Really? That’s so great that you think that. I guess I’ve got to keep up the work if you’ll keep reading.

Suki1: Thank you for you kind words, now set down the caffeine filled drink and no one gets hurt. {tail twitches}

Amon’s Angel of Darkness: Oh, she’ll be back. She’ll be back in a BIG way! {Lightning in the background} {Laughs evilly}

Malster: Thank you so much. I wish I could have had reviewer like you and all of the others when I was trying to write my other two fics. I pulled them off the internet. Lack of response. {Cries}

Konbyashii: Actually, no. The humor is here to stay, because what is a story that’s all fight? That, and I need to write humor. {Sigh} Oh, anime, I didn’t think of that. {whacks self on head} Wait, what does your name mean and how do you pronounce it?

…: Thank you for the review. An author can never have too many and every single one is truly appreciated here.

Carri: {Beams with happiness} I try with my chapters, I really do. But I have a preset limit burned into my mind. Take heart, though: my first multi fic was only like two printed pages (on Word nonetheless) long.

Athana233: Thank you, I’m glad you think my story is good.

Qualapec the She-Wolf: I’ll keep updating as long people still read (and review, don’t forget the review part {smiles}) Well, I think that the impossibility factor makes the suspense that much thicker. Don’t you? It’s what minds you to the screen, lost in all but the flowing words. Or, maybe I’m just weird.

GreenWindOfFire: Not saying a word that could ruin the plot. Sorry. {Smiles}

Ghosthunter: Of course I’m going to take my plot places. Isn’t that what makes a story tick? {Smiles coyly, tail twitching}

Row: You do know that it’s Puff-chan who responds to these, don’t you?

Aki Tari NAI: Random humor, that’s my game. I’m so happy you’ll review from now on!

Daughter of Kenshin: Amazing? Really? I still think I need a bit more practice, but as long as you say so. {Smiles}

Sakura Rain: I’ll try not to doubt my skills. {glomps in return}

Speaker for Psychopaths: Hee-hee. Sorry about the shortness. Unreadable gibberish? You’re very lucky this isn’t published in my handwriting. Sometimes, I have a difficult time reading it.

Byjinder: You’ll be here for a while; I’ve got loads of plans.

Gennie Kag’s and Sess’s Child: Sweetest? How sweet. {huggles}

Goth Musician: I think that’s a great idea, but I’ve got plenty that I think every one would prefer. Nothing against you idea, not at all, mine would just entail more chapters. Lots more chapters. Piles of them heaped everywhere. I have work to do…

Beautiful Witch Hunter Robin: Once a week, my dear, once a week.
