Grace Of Heaven...pictures

These are all pictures of some of the few times I/we were able to hold Savannah. Because she was on a ventilator, it was difficult for us to get to hold her like we would have wanted to.
Just doing so took practically an entire medical team to get her into our arms. This was because they didn't want her to extubate.

This was the first time I got to hold Savannah
she was about 2 months old
I remember she felt so light...
it was like holding a sack of feathers

One of my favorite pictures.

Our First Family Photo

About 2 weeks before she passed we had a tracheotomy done.
This was done for several reasons...one so that her vocal cords would not freeze which can happen after prolonged intubeation.
And so that she could have more freedom of movement.
Up until this time she had been under sedation most of the time and her head was strapped to the bed with baby blankets.
I HATED IT! But it was a necessary evil
. Had these things not been done, she could and would pull her vent tube,
and it was MUCH more traumatic for her to be re-intubeated.
Also after this we were pretty much able to go in and pick her up and hold her as we wished as there was no fear of hurting her.

This is the last picture taken of Savannah and I together.
She passed away the next morning.
This continues to be one of my favorite pictures.
